Looking for Netbooks

Looking for some, for both a xmas present for me, and for others.

Uses are mainly just Office 2007 (excel, word, and Outlook), web browsing, skype, and IMing.

Must haves:

Bluetooth
SSD storage
Webcam

Main thing I want them for is instant (well near) booting, and quick application use. That's why I think an SSD will be best. Other than applications, 300MB of pics, and maybe 4GB of music is all that will exist on it. So a 16 or 32GB SSD will work well.

Main ones i'm looking at are from Dell and HP, with HP well in the lead. For 514$, I can get the 10.1" HP with webcam, bluetooth, wireless G, 32GB SSD, Atom N280 processor, 945GSE onboard graphics, and a media accelerator for HD content.

I'm definitely open to others as I have zilch experience with these things!

ask again in november. too early for anyone to say what prices will be in the future or what models will come out between now and then. i

but i can tell you now not to expect intel X25 type speed from the ssd in netbooks. not all are created equal

Yeah I realised the SSD wouldn't be as fast. I'm also considering saving the $$$ and not getting the SSD from HP, and getting the SSD from newegg and putting it in myself.

Indeed, any default SSDs in current netbooks are no good. So if you really want a decent SSD, you'll need to buy it separately. Though it seems that the good ones cost so much as to raise to price of the netbook by quite a lot.

Yeah, as I'm discussing in my SSD thread, I plan to take the 160's out of the current units and replace them with high quality SSD's, not the craptastic models that come stock.

At least you could have a horde of external 2.5" 160GB drives then...

The upgraded 2GB line of the AO751h comes with Bluetooth.
