i do not overclock my system but i have begun to notice heat related problems with my system at least i think they are heat related
i have:
celeron 466
128 MB pc100 sdram
maxtor HD 20 GB 7200 rpm
ibm HD 10 GB 5400 rpm
voodoo 3 3000 agp
toshiba dvd rom drive
hp 9110i cdrw
sb live value
I only have the intel cpu fan and a fan for the
power supply.the case has no way to add a fan unless i use the single 5.25" open bay in the front or an available pci slot. am i out of luck?
I know i should have known more when i purchased this system but i had not yet found this site yet.
I hope someone can point me to a solution other than tossing the case but if that is the only way i guess that is what i will have to do.
thank you in advance!!

First of all, consider getting an Enlight 7237 without power supply. For under $50, you get a Sunon ball-bearing fan and 80mm intake and exhaust ports on the front and back, respectively, plus the power-supply fan. Using one 80mm fan in each port would probably work wonders, and you can always sell your old case or make a planter out of it .

Besides that option, you could cut a blowhole in the side and/or top of the case, they work great for cooling as long as there is a balance of intake and output (or enough ventilation holes to even things out).

i will look into the new case. Has anyone heard of the slotHO-FAN (slot High Output) from 3dfxcool.com? It is only 8 dollars plus 2.50 shipping for a fan that fits into a empty slot. does this seem like an option or am i missing a problem from this type of solution.

Slot coolers are perfect solutions that don't cost a lot of money. They do advertise that they draw a lot air, that is not necessarily true. But again they are cheap and work.

something to cool your voodoo. if u can find a heatsink fan, there are many ways to attach it to the voodoo3 without voiding your warrantee. go to www.3dfxgamers.com and go to the message boards. the people in Overclocking Madness can help ya. i have a voodoo3 2000, and i'm in the process of adding 2 case fans to blow on it, as well as a heatsink fan, cuz i know how hot those things get. also, u might wanna check and see how how your hard drive gets after about an hour of constant use(ie when u finish defraging your drive) if it gets a lil past warm, on www.pcpowerandcooling.com i think there is a hard drive cooler, it's just a small heatsink with fan that has an adheisive back which u stick to the hot part on the drive

Ya, i have seen those pci lsot coolers at london drugs i know not a computer hardware store but i have seen those fans with a P3 heatsink/fan combo cooler. I was thinking of getting both, but i dont know hot that slot fan works......... kindda looks like a knockoff, but hey i dont have a mouting space for a fan i the back either....so might as well try an alternative - hopefully u will too so i wount be alone stuck with that comical fan!

Toxicrage,
i bought the slot fan also so you will not be alone . i went with a super power 202xp case with a sparkle 300 watt power supply and a p3v4x asus board with a p3 800.the case has a front fan and a fan for the power supply with another spot in the rear for another fan! with the slot fan it may be loud but i hope to not have a problem cooling it
