Looking For Recommendations For Driving/Racing Games???

I run Win 2K , and have not had any luck finding any good racing/Driving sims( F-1, Nascar, ANYTHING), or Motorcyccle racing games that work in 2K . Any suggestions???

sorry to say but i think console racing games kick pc racing games but... GT3 on ps2 and Vanishing Point on DC... oh NFS Porsche Unleashed was pretty good...

from what I have read: none of the EA games do 2K, Nascar4 is exactly what I wanted to run

Zyphria: the demo of POD won't even run on 2K: just tried to load it.

There are racing games and there are racing sims. I've never seen a racing sim on a console before although I've tried many games. I haven't seen whats out on consoles these days, but I'd guess that they are geared more towards regular gamers.

I can run NASCAR 4 and FIFA 2001 (EA) in my Win2K box.

NASCAR 4 is awesome. I am still learning though. It is almost
impossible to win without tweaking your car (oh don't mind winning,
I haven't even finish a race better than any of the opponents yet ).
It has the most realistic graphics and physics engine that I have ever seen.
This is not like regular racing, where you press the acceleration all the
time and win the race like that. Here, you need to balance your acceleration,
your steering, study the tracks, tweak your car for every track, ....
You won't win without doing all these things.
A nice touch in this game is that you can match the weather
outside your room with the weather inside the game (of course
you need to have internet connection).

downloaded and ran NFS5 demo- didn't need a patch at all, amazingly. Beautiful game
Ran it on &quot;Easy&quot; for 4 games till I got the hang of it, then set it to medium. I Liked the advantage of choosing either stick or auto.
Anyone familiar with the game: what kind of additions does the full game have???

I don't use any patches for Nascar 4.

Nascar 4 and NFS4/5 on Win2k APCOMPAT.EXE does wonders

sukhoi: what does the rest of the game amount to : just more maps, and try to win each one, or do you run a circuit of races, and run a season ???

I haven't played the game in a while, but there are two main modes. First is Factory Driver, where you're given different cars and you have to do specialized things, such as 360's, going around weird cone setups, etc. There are also some standard races against other Porsche factory test drivers in Factory Driver. In Evolution mode you work from 1950 or so to the present day, racing Porsche's. You make money from the races you win, and use that money to buy new cars, or get addons for your current cars. The races are both standard points tournaments, and rally tournaments. Overall, I thought it was a really good game.

Superbike 2001 is absolutely the best motorcycle game out there. Try the demo, you'll want to buy it.

Plus it's CHEEP if you shop around a little (like $15-$20).

Cheap is good.

I would love to run that game: I can't even get it installed: I downloaded the demo, and the Install Shield Wizard hangs at 99%, then just dissapears. Pisses me off.

OK, here's my usual friggin luck_ I went out and Bought Porche Unleashed, loaded it ( no problem) , rebooted, started the game. Intro video played fine, I said woohoo here we go, game got to the &quot;Loading&quot; screen, and it just hangs there indefinitely, with the hard drive furiously mumbling to itself. Shut the proggy down, restarted, same thing.
Loaded APCompat, ran it, and got a &quot; debugger found, unload debugger and try again&quot; message. What de-ah heck????

For NFSPU under W2K, change your swap file to 256min/500max, this will usually cure the problem you are having under SP1. I found under SP2 that the virtual memory had to be fixed at 384mb in one system, 256mb in the other system, this was in systems with 512mb of memory. Also in some cases the deletion of the gimme.dll file in the NFSPU directory will work but might cause problems on-line. Go here for further help- Link
