well i just ordered the x2's from amazon. i was debating between the bluebuds which are like $40 cheaper, but i said f it, sounds like the new ones have slightly better sound and come with extra ear cones and had a slightly better battery.

will report back after i try them out!

Has anyone tried the Oontz Budz ($50@ amazon)? I have an oontz angle and for its size and price, its a great bluetooth speaker. Reviews on amazon seem pretty good, but there are few reviews outside of amazon on them though.

Out of curiosity, how far away from the phone can those jayhirds x2s go before dropping connection? Whatever i end up getting needs to ve used for double duty. Tv watching at night (10-15ft away) and running/working out. I keep going back to look at the x2s but i just dont want to spend $150.

My x2s can go 20-25 ft in line of sight from the source. I haven't had an occasion where I needed to go farther than that. But if not line of sight it shortens significantly. I suspect my refrigerator is causing some kind of interference with them - when I leave my phone by the front door and walk into the kitchen the signal would have to pass basically right through the fridge - because it cuts out around it. But when I step to the right a foot and line of sight is back, it's fine again. So range might depend on what's around but no real problems to report so far.

got the x2's today and had a chance to play around with them.

my initial impression was pretty meh. they did not even sound as good as my $20 sennheiser's that i have linked in the OP. there was hardly any bass or anything to it. then i started playing around with the ear fitted pieces and other ear buds...

after trying out the foam ones, i was not a fan of those. they just don't give you the noise isolation at all like the rubber tips. so i tried putting in the large ones and those just didn't feel very tight. it felt like they kept sliding out a bit from inside my ear. when i held them in tight, the headphones sounded very good. it's still a little disappointing that they don't really sound any better than the $20 wired ones i have, but those ones actually sound really good so it's not a bad thing by any means.

so i couldn't get the large ones to fit very well so i tried the medium ones. those seemed to fit better. i then started playing around with the pieces that wedge into your eat contours.

after quite a bit of trial and error, i finally got them to fit "right" i think. it kept the tight noise isolated sound while i was walking around the house. i tried shaking my head a bit and they didn't move at all.

tomorrow im going to try them out while i lift at the gym. i'm going to be doing deadlifts so i should be breaking a big time sweat so i'm curious to see how they are during that.

i'm not a fan of the carrying case. i feel like you just bunch them up and toss them into it. i feel like the rubbery band holding the ear buds together isn't taken care of much when thrown in there. for $130 i'd think ther would be a better case. but it's clear from the packaging they are trying to "apple" their packaging and appearance. i was LOL'ing the package as i opened it just because it's packaged in such a "premium" way that is meant to have an experience as you open it. i absolutely did not care at all about it lol.

had pretty good experience with these today at the gym. some exercises where my shoulders go up by my ears, like close grip lat pulldowns, i noticed a bit of loosening up during some of my sets.

i also feel towards the end of my workout, which i was sweating like shit, that they were starting to slip a little bit too and i had to adjust them quite a bit after some sets than i did in my earlier workout. nothing too drastic or anything, but the noise isolation definitely was loosening up a bit and i noticed it with bass loss.

overall i like them a lot but still need to figure out if i can adjust the ear piece to be a little bit better, since it did start slipping just a tad towards the end. this is my first wireless bluetooth headphones so i've never had that ear piece, but that definitely helps hold them in and keeps the noise isolation up.

it was really nice not hearing all the bs around my gym, especially this one guy who's annoying as shit and never stops talking. it was also awesome to just not have any wires getting in the way. and when i did some exercises where my hand would go near my pocket (curls) i just put the phone on the ground to the side and it was fine. had no dropouts at all.

Walmart has the Jaybird X (older model) on clearance for $60. That isn't' much difference between the X and X2 so its a good deal to jump on if you can get it.

Maybe its too late but saw this thread as I was shopping for Blutooth headphones too. I have heard that the old Bluebuds don't fit in the ear as nicely as the X2's.

The X2's were $108 yesterday on amazon. I can get the old model for $60 too. I mainly want to use them for the gym. I don't sweat that much, just a normal amount. Usually at the gym for 90 minutes so battery is not an issue.

I want something that will stay in my ear while I run and then proceed to lifting. Are there any other contenders besides the X2's?

ive been using mine since i mentioned purchasing them in this thread. i like them but i do find myself adjusting them quite frequently in the gym. they become "loose" fairly often.

i recently just figured out about the 'over the ear' way to wear them, with the clips to make the wire tighter behind my head. prior to that i was wearing them wrong and they were even looser than they are now.

they stay in well when upright pretty good, but i notice when i lie down to do bench stuff that they frequently lose the seal and i have to push them back in a bit.

they definitely do not fit nearly as well as my wired ones that keep a very good seal with nice bass the whole time, but these definitely lose some bass points just because they seal isn't as good as i wish it was.

still though, the convenience is definitely worth it. there are a lot of exercises i do in the gym where having a phone in my pocket simply isn't really doable without risking it being crushed or falling out, and without wires, i can just set it on the ground.

battery is good too. i charge them like every 2-3 weeks, using them on average around an hour 4x a week.

That's about the same schedule I follow at the gym so it will be nice not to have to charge them every other day.

Seems like it will vary on the person's ear structure and what they feel comfortable with. Besides not liking any of the other Bluetooth buds I've researched I think I will also order the x2's today. Thanks for the feedback.
