Looking for some ram...

I currently have a pair of TWINX1024PC4000 ram (2Xm512MB) modules with timings of 3-4-4-8. I'm really considering/asking for the best ram I can get (timings/quality) for a motherboard that supports a maximum of 2.8V for the ram. (Abit IC7-G Pentium 4 board) So my question is 1. should I get faster modules that are 2GB (2X1GB) or get another pair of my memory 2. What would be the fastest PC4000 modules (could be 4400 I guess) that supports fasting timings and those timings at 2.8v?

THANKS! Yea I've heard about the DDR boosters but I don't really know much about them. I was reading the reviews on how some people would only get up to like 3.6GHZ and when they added the booster, it went up to 4.2GHZ (the cpu) but wouldn't the CPU go up to 4.2 anyways if you run the ram async?

Yeah, the ddr booster will just increase your memory voltage, allowing you to run it faster by using a higher memory divider. It will really have no effect on your CPU speed. Just make sure that your power supply is good enough to handle an extra load and that it is compatible with your motherboard. Check out the OCZ site for compatibility (I've heard it won't work with mine, but haven't had the need for it anyways). Your best bet if you go that route is to get something with samsung tccd chips that you can overclock like crazy with the right voltage.

Like the ram you mentioned? Just wondering about the ram because it is DDR600 and can do 2.5-4-4-10 but was wondering what DDR speeds could let it do. Also my motherboard only supports a max of 3-4-4-8...

tccd isn't made anymore. whats left is binned into the pc440 and up, big money. if you get those, do not pump alot of volts through it. tccd likes low volts, 2.7v-2.8v.

That's a curious maximum. You do know that lower is better right? Just checking.

Oops, I was thinking of Winbond chips.

Of course lower is better, an ideal timing would be like 2-2-2-5 but the reason why it concerns me is because it says 3-4-4-10 and thats higher than my board supports so it would for one thing never reach that speed. Simply need to know whats the fastest timings I can get with any high capacity ram running at DDR500 and a max of 2.8V.

Sorry, haven't been around for a couple days...

I would go with this, which you can bump up if you want to push more volts later:

Or this, if you plan on trying to boost the voltage right away:

Of course, the Redline is on backorder and the OCZ will actually run quite fast without increasing the voltage. Just make sure to manually set voltage and timings in BIOS before trying to boot, or you will get errors. Given the choices, I would heartily recommend the OCZ, which has potential for increase without having to modify your system right away. Get the Redline if you are willing to spend a little extra to support such thirsty memory. Good luck.
