I am a music producer as well as a heavy gamer and I'm building a PC to phase out my old rig. I'd love some feedback from the lovely people on Anand Tech on what you guys and gals think about the spec list for my upcoming build. I would also love to hear any changes that you guys would make. My budget is $4,500 including peripherals. I will be buying within the US.

Explain your storage solution, please. You have an NVMe SSD and a 2.5" SSD, along with 2 spinners (which I understand.) Why not just put one 2TB MVMe SSD in there?

Personally, I would just put everything on one 2TB NVMe SSD and be done with it, I don't see any advantage to the 2 drives. You mentioned music editing... that board has 2 NVMe slots, you could actually put a 2nd NVMe drive in as your game drive. My concern was a heavy I/O load on the 2nd NVMe drive... and issues with overheating... but that would not be a problem with a game drive most likely... but I would still vote for a single, large NVMe drive vs 2 drives. As I say, I understand the 2 HDD's for storage, I'm just talking about the SSD's.

For $4500 I'd be getting rid of those spinners and getting nvme for boot and either nvme or sata ssds for storage too. Maybe a 2tb + a 1tb nvme

looks great, how about a 1tb (your choice of top of the line NVME drive, and 2tb of (slower, but still NVME, still faster than any HDD or Sata drive) ? Unless you had a need for an external drive, I wouldn't.

Also, would u consider a Fractal Design or Lian Li case over Phanteks for potentially better cable management and build quality?

I'm going to guess the OP spec'ed 2x 4TB drives for a reason, in addition to the 2TB external. I'd stick with my original idea of a single 2TB NVMe for the OS and games, and the 2x spinners for storage. If he wanted quick access to working files or something, he could add a 2nd NVMe drive and use that as his scratch drive, but Blacks are 7200RPM drives and no slouch, either.

yea, I must've missed that 2x 4tb drive statement. sounds like he's set. How about a 2nd monitor? I haven't used a computer with a single monitor for over 10 years (work + home.) My home PC is a 32in 1440p + 24in (19x12) rotated vertically. So much screen real estate...
