So, I have been looking for a good team based FPS. I dont mean like CS:S or MW2, i want the game to be heavily dependant of people communicating in the team. Even BC2 doesnt have this and its the closest thing to it. Anyone have any suggestions?

There really isn't any. CS:Source and/or Tactical Ops (not really anyone playing it anymore) are about the closest.

There is Nuclear Dawn, but yet again, you usually end up with everyone doing their own thing, and really I don't see many people on the servers anymore...

TF2. It's not heavily dependent on communication, but a well communicating team will destroy a team filled with randoms. Back when I played it, there was one server I would play on all the time that always had both teams filled with good players that worked together and it was the most fun/intense multiplayer gaming I've played.

I was thinking of TF2, it used to be one of my favorite games (500 hours played). but i got sick of all the stupid new weapons and this hat buisness that keep flooding in. Every 5 seconds there is a new weapon that completely unbalances the game and its just not fun anymore.

If you have the patience to play an older game, RTCW : Enemy Territory is still being played, and it's about the best team-oriented FPS I've ever seen. The old tribes games were cool too, but I think they're just a little too old now. ET when tweaked a bit still looks pretty good, plays astonishingly well, and is very well designed.

Enemy Territory: quake Wars was rather fun also

One of the Rainbow Six games.

Good teamwork isn't going to be required in any current mainstream games, it would make the game too hard for casuals who never gamed before to pick up the controller and mash buttons and win for 15 minutes.

Like previously said none of the mainstream games will offer what you are looking for unless you land on a very good server with a bunch of regulars who are like minded.

If your after some hardcore teamwork try and get into Arma II and find yourself a good bunch of lads to play with. The entry requirements are quite steep in that its fairly complicated to learn, you will need to install a bit of third party content depending on what sort of play style your group has and it will require a fair bit of patience as its fairly slow paced. Not really my cup of tea to be honest but a good coordinated game will be immersive and satisfying as hell - if you have the patience

Other than that I would take another vote for Natural Selection, RTS/FPS hybrid. A sequel is due out soon. Also have a look at Heroes and Generals which also uses a commander RTS like system. Its currently in Beta.

Any FPS is going to require a lot of teamwork in the upper tiers. Some try to force it more by including things like picking up your teammates; while others like CS require it to push through skill ceilings.

I've spent more time throwing smokes and flashbangs in empty servers with my friends than actually playing organized matches. It really depends on the skill level, and how serious you are about the game.

There's plenty of people playing Nuclear Dawn. I've been playing it again lately and I forgot how good that game is. I'd definitely recommend it.

Killing Floor maybe, though the game is pretty easy until you turn up the difficulty but that also kind of requires you've advanced a few class levels.

Best one I've come across is America's Army 2. Apparently the game is still alive but I couldn't find where to download it. Free game btw created by the Real America's Army to help train soldiers and also used as a recruitment tool back in the days of GW Bush. I played almost 3000 hours when the game was popular but then army cut it's budget again and again, then they completely destroyed the franchise with America's Army 3 which was complete crud.

In certain maps like my favourite you had to protect and escort the VIP or you lose. There was Team Kills which if you did it you would lose your place to select your gun next round. You could'nt even shoot NPCs in the game without penalties including autokick. No respawning either, that alone adds an element you can't find today.

Check out around the 7 minute mark how they co operate to protect and escort the vip to the extraction point.

Hands down without a doubt Arma2. It's $29.99 on steam right now for Combined Operations, and you will not find a better team-work driven game out there.

Add in: Thousands of user-made missions, hundreds of user-made addons, insanely huge map sizes (220sq/km), and a helpful and intelligent community always willing to help out. The game never gets old (I've been playing Arma 2's iterations since 2001) because of this.

ArmA II---without a doubt.

This is not a shooter in the traditional sense, but you aren't going to find any other games that are going to rely on communication and teamwork to this extent to succeed.

Period.

Not sure how many people still play it, but Enemy Territory: Quake Wars was one of the best team oriented FPS games I have played.

That game has basically died. There was a thread saying the servers were terminated.

Not sure of current status.

Do you mean a more slower paced more tactical fps? In my earlier thread the suggestions I got were- Op Flashpoint DR, Planetside, R6 Vegas, BiA, ARMA2. ARMA2 is serious stuff, you really have to listen to your radio and see who's where and doing what or call in and find out periodically.
