If anyone still has interest, could you please take a look at this .pdf and see if it contains my answer. I believe that it may.

That does look like it would work. Try it and see, and if it doesn't work just fall back to one of the other options. I wonder why that solution isn't mentioned by Ubiquiti?

I had the same issue. Switched to a TP-Link Archer C3200, no issues since.

I've read that you can resolve the issue by switching to a third-party firmware, but I just wanted something that worked OOTB.
I've got Merlin on it now but it did it with Asus firmware too. In fact, I've gone to every new iteration of both stock firmware and Merlin as they've been released. Having said that, I get the impression that there is a tight bond between the Merlin people (person?) and Asus so maybe that's why nothing cures it?

I've done DD-WRT in the past on other routers and unless the process has been simplified, I'm just not interested in jumping through all the DD-WRT hoops again. I haven't researched Tomato though.

Wow, CLI on a consumer router? They need to get with the program. The think they are IOS?

For a while, their Tough Switch line were also mostly CLI based but their GUI team finally caught up and you don't need to use the CLI for configuration on them any longer. Perhaps the routers are still a bit behind.
Security and resource management perhaps? I'd rather have PuTTy for remote access than a browser with *shudder* Java or in Cisco ISE's case *more shuddering* Flash.

Indeed. CLI lacks such troubleware.

"Consumer devices" are for users, who
a) don't need to
b) cannot
c) should not
do anything. Plug and pray. (Check all that apply.)

CLI for home routers? I get enough of that at work.

You guys want to peck away at the command line on a router for a simple home LAN configuration than more power to you. I'd rather click a few buttons and be done with it...
