Barebones system with good bones for building a cheap gaming rig for a church.

Prefer a sandy bridge to make it upgradeable to a quad core, 32GB ram, and a halfway decent video card, at least a 500gb.

Unnecessary unless you are doing 3D CAD/modeling. Heck, I've got 16GB of RAM and it's unnecessary---almost never get past 8GB used----and I've really tried.

Microcenter if one's close to you. Start out with a G620 cpu ($50) with a Z77 motherboard ($110-$150), 8GB memory ($40), 500GB hard drive ($75), cheapie case ($35-$40), DVD-RW optical drive ($18), and like a 7770 video card ($120 or so). Not the best or fastest but under budget and not a snail. (At around $500 for this setup.)

Alternative cpu would be an i3 2100 for $90.....it'd be a bit faster, but again, more costly.

Add to that the OS cost and you're at budget.

Once again, answering the questions in the sticky would probably get you more useful answers in a shorter time.

32GB of RAM wouldn't typically be considered cheap, and it's wholly unnecessary for gaming, so it's really hard to know what to recommend.
