Mmm, I'm wondering now that we've switched to the 560ti OC, if that PSU would be enough. I think it is, but I'd like a sanity check form everyone here.

336w is cutting it close especially if OP OC's and the GPU is an OC'd GPU.

Also, could I get some feedback on the networking issue. I re-read it and realized it didn't make much sense. I apologize. Do you need to have matching Windows 7 systems for the network to be compatible? As in 64bit desktop matching a 64bit netbook?

If you try and run a 64bit program on a 32bit OS it wont run, so if you want to share programs just make sure you share 32 bit programs only (64bit OS can run 32bit programs but not vice versa)

Yea, change the PSU to that. Overshoots your budget by like $5 though.

Are you looking to share applications or just files on the network? With the later it should be no problem; with the former I have no clue.

Five dollars over isn't bad at all. And I don't know if I'll be sharing applications over the network... but I doubt I will. Probably just files. I'll try to get 64 bit for both desktop and netbook.

I don't think there are 64bit versions of Windows 7 starter, but it should be no issue for just a home network. Definitely get 64bit for the desktop otherwise you won't be able to use half your RAM.

K. Good to know. I've been trying to learn about all of this stuff recently. It just makes the purchasing process a lot easier with people who already know what they're talking about.

On the subject of the netbook, most of the ones around $250 have 1GB RAM with around a 250GB HDD. Do you guys think this is all that is needed? Or should I splurge a little more and get 2GB ram with 320 HDD?

I think I'm making my budget for the netbook $350. But I'm going to try for less than that.

I suggest that you get the AMD C-50 instead if you are on a tight budget. They are pretty cheap as well and meets the requirements of $350 or less, sort of.

There seems to be a 15" notebook with the C-50 as well priced at $350. Comes with a numpad as well but I wouldn't advise getting it if weight is an issue.

You could always drop down the gaming PC a bit to free up budget for your netbook. For example, you could get the 6870 instead and save $50.
