Looking to buy a new monitor

I'm fixing my old computer going to give it to my mom along with my monitor so I need to buy a new one. I'm going with a CRT monitor just don't know whats good these days. I have a 19" monitor right now if I got a 22" would it be a big difference in picture size? Willing to spend 600.

One other thing some how I lost the cable that plugs into the back of the psu having trouble finding one on newegg what's it called.

The cables that go from the MB into the HD and cd-rom are they the same? If they are different I have one cable and not sure which one it is.

19" CRT is usually 18" or less of actual image size. Going to a 22" should give you about 20" so it's 2" more. You can also run some higher resolutions that may have seemed too small on the 19".


You mean the power cable? 3 prong on one side? Goes from the PC to the wall? It's just a power cable.

HD and CD-ROM cables are the same, either 40 pin or 80 pin.

If you don't mind a refurbished monitor I recommend a 21" Sony CRT such as the G520, one of the best ever produced. Sony used to be one of (if not the) best CRT manufacturers for computers. Here is a good place to grab one -> click me.
For the PSU all you need is a power cable, as others have said.
And as far as the HD and optical drive cables, it depends on how old your old hard drive is. They may look the same but all newer hd cables have 80 wires (not pins) that allow for faster tranfer rates, the 40 wire versions are for optical drives (although some new optical drives can do 66MB/sec and benefit from the 80 wire version).
