Keep in mind that the price listed is after rebates so if your budget includes the $80 you're paying to assemble it (not to mention rush delivery costs) then you're likely to go over budget. If that's the case I would probably recommend dropping the SSD. I hate recommending to do that as it does noticeably increase how responsive the system is but your budget is your budget.

It's not a bad value, depending on how hold it is and whether the parts are still in warranty or not. The i5 will generally beat the FX-8350 when it comes to single threaded tasks (which most games still are to an extent) but they're pretty close when it comes to multi threaded tasks. So I'd say it depends on whether the parts are in warranty or not, if they have at least a year of warranty that is transferrable, or your friend is willing to help should a warranty issue arise, then I don't see an issue with purchasing that system. If however parts are out of warranty, particularly the GPU, motherboard & PSU then I'd be a bit wary. I will admit though that of those parts I'm pretty certain that the PSU is likely still under warranty since it is a SeaSonic platinum grade unit, they tend to have long warranties and last quite a while.

Edit For further clarification, none of those parts are low quality parts. They're all quality parts from well reputed manufacturers, so I have zero issues with the parts themselves. I just tend to prefer having some kind of warranty with PCs as parts can fail so if it does happen I don't have to spend a bunch of additional money to replace a part.

Sounds like a very good deal to me then. It should perform just as well, if not a bit better than the i5 I specced out for the most part. The GPU might be a little bit limited by its onboard RAM but that shouldn't be a concern for the games listed and the resolution you intend to game at. Just make sure to give it a thorough test drive to make sure everything is working correctly before forking over the cash. Also is this one that your friend built himself or did he have another company build it for him?

That's fine, was just curious. Make sure that you test it out to make sure everything works properly and that he gives you all the paperwork that came with the system just in case you need to put in for a warranty replacement then you should be good to go.

I wouldn't recommend any FX in 2015 and the OS is running off a dog slow Green HDD. If you have $950 may well as go for one of the other builds posted in this thread.

I've used the computer before actually because I know the person selling it, and its insanely fast haha, you guys are always critiquing >.<

Well, if you dont want people's comments, dont post forum questions. TBH, you seem to be all over the place: want a prebuilt, then found someone to build for you, then buying a system off Craig's list. If you know the person selling it and trust him, that system is not a terrible price. If he includes the monitor for 950 that would be a great deal. 950.00 for just the tower seems a bit expensive. It may seem "insanely fast" compared to most computers (and it is), but in that price range, an intel system would definitely be faster in the vast majority of games, although any basic pc with a decent graphics card will play the games you are looking at.

It won't seem as fast when you play a game that hammers single threaded performance and then find out an i5 is 30%+ faster, never mind the minimum dips, or the extra heat the FX generates. FrozenTundra has the right of it too.
