Looking to replace 120mm fan in Zalman CPU cooler.

The stock fan from Zalman doesn't sound right. It is louder than anything else in my case. It seems that I have read about people replacing the fans in these, but I can't find anything in google. Anybody know how to do it or where to find that info?

Duh, I bought the 7000, then traded with a friend who bought the version w/ the 120 on it as it was too big for his case. Thanks for looking out though!

Thanks for the link Operandi. You think that fan is good? Mine makes a low buzz sound. I figure this one is not working properly and should be more quiet. I thought I might be better off buying a higher quality (and more quiet) 120mm fan and modding it to work.

I haven't used the 120mm Zalman fan but I've used several 92mm variants and found them to be very quiet when the speed is reduced.

SPCR compared the 7000 to the 7700 and found them to roughly comparable so your fan might be damaged or just simply defective, I wouldn't hesitate to get an identical replacement.

I've just done one myself, if you use scythe S-flex fans you won't need to use any spacer to add clearance for the fan blades.
