It's been a while since I've followed the different blogging platforms out there, so I'm not sure what's good anymore.
I'm looking to start a simple blog about the intersection of engineering / medical devices / medicine. The aim is to capture my thoughts, engage in discussions, and network. It's a fairly niche topic, so I'm not expecting a lot of traffic. I want to portray a "business casual" feeling, where it straddles between professional and personal. I like both the tone and minimal design of Marco Arment's blog (developer of Instapaper).
I would much prefer to have a blog that's easy to set up, as I don't have the IT expertise to administer a complex site. I've set up a photography portfolio site before where I bought my domain name, set up a simple album, etc, so I'm ok with that superficial level of hands on approach, but not much more. Suggestions on blogging platform, advice on promoting it, and personal experiences from running a blog in your field?
