Looking To Upgrade on a Budget, Any New Graphics Cards Coming Out Soon?

I've been out of the market since I built my PC back in 2005, and I think my Geforce 7900 GS is slowly dying (streaking in games, etc...). I'd like to upgrade before Fallout 3 comes out in the Fall/Winter. Are there any new cards that will be coming out soon, which would drive down the price of the current cards out there?

Also, any suggestions for a $150 or below card?

Ati 4850 should be around $150 very soon You can get it for that now with a rebate.

You could also pick one up from eBay for 25% whatever the BIN price is by searching for it through www.live.com. You have to wait 60 days for the money to become available, which is probably faster than waiting for a rebate check.

ATI 4850 will be your best bet. I'd say an 8800GT would work pretty well too, but the 4x series of ATI cards are outstanding for the price.

Excellent, is the Ati 4850 better than the Geforce 9600 GT? I saw a few of the 9600's for about $100-$120

Without a doubt better. They are on par with the 9800GTX/9800GTX+

Like I said, the 4xxx series really can't be beat in terms of price / performance ratio.

At least not the 4850, the 260 poses competition for the 4870. Anyhow I gotta agree with all the 4850 recommendations, won't get much better considering the budget.

Sounds great, is there a particular brand of 4850 that I should look for? I've always gone with Nvidia in the past, so I'm not as familiar with the Ati manufacturers.

visiontek is the only one that offers lifetime warranty.
Some makers are already starting to release 4850 with improved HSF, I would highly recommend you get one of those instead of the stock cooler.

But the only two I know of right now are sapphire (horrible support and warranty), and ASUS, and both are out of stock at new egg at the moment.. so waiting a bit might be needed.
