oh yeah. Modem drops off every half hour or so, and I can't open half the links I click on. Last night they gave me a dumbed down explanation of having DNS issues.

yeah they told me it was DNS issues last thursday when this happened. last night it was pretty bad but it was fine this morning

Me too in Nashville, TN area. This is horrible. It usually starts at around this time at night (every night this week).

Alternate DNS = 4.2.2.1 = problem solved (for me)

I just forced Verizon's DNS servers and everything's fine. All you have to do is change the DNS server address.

Yeah, DNS issues started last night. I wondered what was up when people kept asking for the IP to our Ventrilo server and UT server.

No problems for me Good ol' Millenium Digital Media.

I'm also having problems in Chicago. I called Comcast up and asked for a refund on the days that it was down, and they gave me a $5 refund. Not bad for all of 2 minutes of "work".

Go to network connections, right click your connection, choose properties, choose TCP/IP, then instead of having your DNS settings chosen automatically, set it to 4.2.2.1 or 4.2.2.2

But if you're behind a router you'll need to adjust the DNS settings of the routing device NOT the local connection settings.

For Windows XP:

Control panel --> network connections --> local area connections
Click on properties, highlight internet protocol, click on properties
Bottom section of general tab has a "Use the following DNS server addresses" option.

I'm behind a router and it worked fine just changing my net connections... maybe I am just lucky as the above update states!
