WASHINGTON ? U.S. gasoline prices should remain at or close to $3 a gallon for most of the summer, but pump costs will not approach the $4 level that many oil market analysts are predicting, the government's top energy forecasting agency said Wednesday.

I know some wont like to hear this, but dont lose hope. Maybe terrorists will strike Saudia Arabia's oil infrastructure or something.

This article, while located at FoxNews, was produced by Reuters.

Do you believe all of these media smoke & mirror stories?

You do realize hurricane season is upon us. Gas WILL approach close to $4.00 this summer. One major hurricane with any small amount of destruction will send it over $4.00..

And those smoke & mirror stories are what have driven gas up 50% within 6 months time.

Such is the perception vs reality.

FUD wins every time.

The federal Energy Information Administration said it "does not expect the U.S. average price to get anywhere close to that level as long as the oil infrastructure remains largely unaffected this summer."

Awwwwwww :lips: your heroes have been wrong many times before what makes you think they won't be wrong now?

What about the words "average price" do you not understand?

I can drive 20 minutes out of the city up here and pump prices fall $.40 or more. Location plays a big role (been that way as long as I remember).

Please don't feed Dave's fear mongering.

BTW, that CA gas has some of the very highest taxes in the country on it ($.60/gal combined state and fed).

I'm going to give you two the benefit of the doubt for some reason, and assume you are just ignorant, and not trying to mislead everyone about those photos.

Nice Try

I don't remember gas jumping up $1-2 during hurrican season until Dubya entered office. Hurricane Andrew didn't cause such a spike?

Why the excuses now a days? If someone calls in sick at the refinery, gas jumps $0.20. This crap didn't exist 10-20 years ago. Each president seems to have its odd points.

This is one oddity of the Bush Admin. I do see it hitting $4.00 a gallon.

Dude, New Orleans hosted the largest oil import terminal in the U.S., and that was shut down. We have also greatly expanded our production capacity in the gulf since Andrew, and we dont have an oversupply of oil like we used to. When we are consuming our entire capacity for producing gasoline, even the smallest disruption can cause havoc in the markets. Bush has nothing to do with it.

We are a 1st world country (even though it feels like a 3rd world country), we can find ways to reduce oil needs.

For example.

Start using more of our railroad infrastructure and reduce freight on the highways. That should reduce our diesel usage, even though trains use diesel as of now. But I'm guessing 200 boxcars on a train would still benefit us compared to 200 18 wheelers on the road.

I can think of about 20-30 things right off the bat to reduce our oil usage. Why can't our government pull their head from their ass and start thinking of things on their own?

It's just an excuse to say the supply is down, and things are more sensative to disruption. If thats the case, sounds like someone needs to start getting something done. Our government just sits here and does nothing until we are all broke.

It's not only that station...gas prices in San Fran have always been ridiculously higher than the rest of the area.

Oddly enough, the cheapest gas prices listed there are all UNDER $3.00/gallon...that's GOTTA be a misprint, or the stations are losing money for some promotional stunt...

I will not defend gas companies as I think they are bumping up the price of gas because they know we will pay it and get use to paying the increase prices each year. However, that specific Shell station's owner is fueding with corporate over internal things like high rent. He is going out of business apparently and wants to go out in protest.
Dealer prices gas over $4 in protest

Dude, oil inventories have not dropped below 5 year highs.

In fact 3 weeks ago the oil depot terminal here in Oklahoma had a major oil spill because they ran out of storage and oil flowed all over the place.

Try again.
