Looks like I might be in Houston/Clear Lake soon

One of my wife's aunts is on her deathbed, not expected to make it through the week. If/when there is a funeral we will be going to Clear Lake for it. Can any Houstonites/ Clear Lakinites(?) give me a head's up on some places to stay in the Clear Lake area? Haven't been there in ages. The wife doesn't want to impose on family if we have to go down there so we will need a place to stay. Any help would be appreciated.

clear lake was where i was raised. i lived there for 8 years and moved here to so cal just 4 years ago. hm...are u looking for a hotel? well, they have several hotels nearby. i guess i'd have to recommend you best western or something. if i still lived there, i'd let you guys stay at my place.

What I will probably end up doing is getting a block of rooms. One for my wife and I, one for her two brothers, and one for her sister who is going through that whole teen I want my own space thing.

clear lake has tons of hotels/motels...you shoudln't have trouble finding a place

shiner, you can crash at my house in Katy. You would have to drive another hour or so to get to Clear Lake and have to put up with 4 insane kids, though.

4 kids huh? Can't be any worse than our 4 dogs. We could finally have a competition to see who's breasts are larger....my wife or yours.

I'm still trying to find out exactly where this will be. My wife says "outside Clear Lake" but she doesn't know the name of the town/community/whatever.

Yeah...only problem is I don't know exactly where this place is. My wife and geography don't get along real well. At first it was "in Houston" then it was "Clear Lake" now it's "Outside of Clear Lake." We could end up in Abilene for all I know.

I was just there in Houston.
Didn't like it so much. The road conditions are terrible.
Pot holes, cracks everywhere I went.

I got a hold of a coupon booklet and stayed at a really nice Days Inn w/ free wireless internet for $42.
They rape you on lodging taxes though.
One of the Holiday Inn Express were advertising rooms for $37 w/ high speed internet but that was near the Space center so I didn't bother.

Last time I was in Houston was about 4 years ago. It seemed like every road down there was under construction. Never seen anything like it. The traffic was HORRIBLE!!!! I was going to Compaq's campus down there, wasn't staying all that far away, but the drive from the hotel to Compaq would take over an hour every morning.

Clear Lake IS NASA

and there are tons of places to stay. I also recall several funeral homes in the area. (they seem to be next door to the old folks homes too)

i've lived there most of my life, not a bad place at all.

I live there currently, pm me if you need some info on local hotels/motels. I pass through Dickinson on my way to work every day, there arent any places to stay there, the closest ones are in Webster, Clear Lake City or Houston itself.
