On black friday I ended up using a gift card that we had received as a wedding present 9 years ago. Then I sold the item, basically liquidating my giftcard.

OP, if you're buying from Best Buy, I TOTALLY recommend you get the $80 monster cables. They are SWEET! 24k real gold and they totally make a difference in your sound performance!

I was in Best Buy today returning an online order item. It was actually a quick and painless experience, in and out in a couple of minutes. There was a rack of miscellaneous crap like phone cases and various cables intended to be impulse purchases right near the CS counter and I was price checking some of the items. Ordinary, non-Monster HDMI cables were $19.95 for 6-feet and $29.95 for 8-feet. Just frightening that they can have things like that for that price and people will still pay it.

Sad, you can get 6 ft HDMI from ebay (china) for like 5 bucks, maybe less. I have several of them in my house connected to the Wii, Roku etc...

Yeah, because the stock units usually suck. No, I'm not a crazy audiophile. I just like the ability to conn my phone to the stereo, play music etc...

Ya, seems hit or miss depending on who makes the cars. Bluetooth is pretty default on some brands these days though.

My wife's 2006 Sienna plays mp3, wmv on disc which is nice. I just got into the BT thing of things because I've always thought BT ws horrible with music.

When I say a freind streaming music via BT from his ipod and it sounded great!!!! I decided hell, I just use Pandora, Google Music and stream this shit... Fuck all these 100 disc....

Less than $1 on ebay with free shipping. I have several that were .99 cents drop-shipped from China and they work just fine.

I agree.

It's just that these days the factory head units are so integrated with the rest of the car. You end up with a better stereo but lose a ton of extra whiz-bang gadgetry at the same time.

One time someone in BBY went to the register complaining he was asked 18 times to sign up for the BBY credit card. The cashier apologized and asked if he wanted a best buy credit card.

They were required to.

BBY is incredibly dumb and has completely turned me off going into the store with their pushy-ness on extended warranties, credit cards, accessory upsells, etc.

How does kenwood compare to pioneer?

Other thing I found I liked about this unit is that as soon as I turn my ignition key it connects to my phone and starts playing music almost immediately!!!
