The 20 week limit wasn't the big issue.

The real problem is that the bill would close 37 of 42 abortion clinics in the state, severely reducing the availability of women to receive adequate care, and likely forcing many to choose unsafe procedures in Mexico.

Why don't the baby killers just open more clinics that complied with the new law?

Isn't it progressive to set new higher standards by government?

The biggest barrier is something they don't have control over. One of the measures in SB5 is to require Dr's who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at Hospitals. That rarely happens. Mostly because there is a relative scarcity of Dr's who perform abortions and many clinics across the country use the same Dr's and its even rarer for hospitals to give out of state Dr's admitting privileges. And this is just an end around to close clinics, not having admitting privileges is a red herring.

Another stupid part of the bill is to require the use of a surgical suite with full staffing for a non surgical procedure. Again another end run to close clinics that have no safety issues.

As for the 20 weeks part of the bill. It will never pass the judicial branch without exceptions(SB5 didnt have exceptions to the 20 week rule). That said 20 week bans with exceptions have already been enjoined in multiple states and it looks like they are going down. Current jurisprudence is abortions before viability are 100% legal. North Dakotas ban after 6 weeks is a blatant attempt to try to get SCotUS to overturn Roe. V. Wade and its followup cases and that attempt will fail miserably.

That was a given once they ensured no outside influences would prevent the vote from taking place.

Yes! They had some nerve thinking they deserved a voice in their government. How dare they challenge the Texas Taliban like it was a democracy or something. The church is in control as god intended.

Well, in the eyes of people like Londo, who cares what a bunch of women think? If they wanted to speak their opinion, it should go through their husband.

It's pretty ironic that you're making jokes about representative democracy in Texas when you're advocating for mob rule instead of elected legislators. Is that what you want, skip the elections and just proceed to whichever side can whip up the largest crowd at the statehouse wins?

Well, in the eyes of people like you, who cares what a majority of Texas voters who elected the legislature think? If they wanted to speak their opinion, it should go through the feminists protesting at the statehouse.
