I pay 30 cents a kWh so to me, efficiency indeed matters.

We need some realistic figures for khash/watt on these cards to conclude whether they are actually more efficient than AMD counterparts...

These guys measured hash per watt
This is a start but their settings are anything but optimal for maximum khash/watt...

Also, based on their figures, the GTX 750 Ti consumes 105.1W(247/2.35)... I wouldn't call that graph accurate

Good. Hopefully this means that there will be enough supply for both gamers and miners soon so prices can go back to reasonable levels.

There is no 750ti entry there. Only one entry for 650Ti Boost and its about 100Khs so their 176kh/s result is quite good.

The site is somewhat useful for AMD configurations, not so much for Nvidia cards... Forum posts are much more reliable in determining optimal settings... Either way, the card came out yesterday, it's optimal hash rate has not been found yet. It took a few weeks before it was discovered that underclocking the 7790 yielded the best hash rates....

According to this Reddit post, you should expect a minimum of 400 khash for the R9 270 (non-x) ~450 khash being somewhat common.

IF AMD made any moves to improve their integer performance on 20nm plus the additional functional units that node shrinks afford, they might just hold nvidia off

That's only one metric, but I hope nVidia stays this close. Too bad it's not khs/slot, that's going to make a bigger difference.

According to the above graph, the factory OC Palit 750 Ti consumes 75W peak while running at 1281 Boost. If we assume that an overclocked 750 Ti can peak at 300 khash while consuming 75W, the card would have a khash/watt ratio of 4. This figure may improve with optimization.

As a comparative, Considering that the HD 7990 can easily do 1300 khash, if we use the above graph, it would yield 4.15 khash/watt if we assume it consumes 313W...

Yes, the 7990 (Malta rev) is very efficient. Shame you can't find it anywhere these days and used it fetches $1000+ easy.

If I knew mining was going to blow up like this I would've bought so many of them when Amazon had that $600 lighting deal...
