Ahh.....just another example of misguided hippy leftovers and wannabees that hate themselves, their country, and everything else besides "Goddess Earth" Don't try to pretend this is anything other than PC BS. God, that's right I said GOD, forbid that anyone anywhere should ever have the feelings hurt or be offended. Hell I spend half my day every day making sure those people have plenty to go home and cry about at night. The only use I have for most of them is when I walk into a coffee shop and tell one of the gutless wonders to make me a latte.

Pieces of sh1t like them are what is ruining this country.

If they went the other way they'd be appeasing the jingoists.

But who cares, it's just petty bickering. If you want to sing the National Anthem and have a personal relationship with God or Allah, I don't think anyone would stop you. Doesn't seem very healthy for a memorial to be about anything other than remembering the loss of life. Filling the emptiness with patriotism and foolish religious pride brings you a few steps closer to the people who attacked the Twin Towers to begin with.

So, since we're generalizing, what are they going to do on 9/11/02 in Texas. Drink Budweiser and lynch black people?

Oh so now you ARE going to stoop down to the hypocrisy you so often preach about. Right.

What are you going to do on 9-11? Smoke dope and have group sex with people who don't bathe?

Good ole stereotypes.

Did you just learn this word from your Word a Day calendar or something. This is at least the third thread you have posted in and used that particular word. Just to let you know....using high dollar words doesn't make you appear any smarter. In fact it makes me think you are a pretentious twerp.

Stupid angry liberals always inventing crap to be pissed about. Just because their parents made the school famous protesting Vietnam, the idiots at Berkeley have been inventing things to be mad at for 30 years.

My advice, shut the f' up, go eat some granola, form a drum circle and pray The Democrats don't win next election or you won't anything to whine about.

Edit: BTW I support the school on this one. They're not saying you can't say the national anthem or sing the star-spangled banner, it's just not part of the school-sanctioned event.

Exactly. The event is about the loss of life. Just because some other stuff isn't included doesn't make it an anti-america rally all the sudden.

But people will always bash trivial things to make themselves feel better.
That should be all of the sudden.
There, I feel better.
EDIT
You know the age old question about finding the genie and getting one wish? My wish would be that we would go to conscription and all Americans would have to serve in the Military. Then maybe some of these clueless fvcktards might get a clue.

Also, to prevent the exclusion of those who don't believe in the American Flag, there will be no tribute to the flag. "The flag has become a symbol of U.S. aggression towards other countries. It seems hostile," Quindel said.

The California Patriot, I'm sure that this is an unbiased account of what is really going on. Almost any topic, if reported properly, can create ire from one side or the other. I'm sure that there is more to this story that was reported here. Lynn

supporting the us and remembering those who died on september 11 are two completely different things. why should those want to honor the victims should be combined with praising the federal government? particularly when they believe the government provoked the attacks with their foreign policy.

personally, i can't stand when the ultra liberals at berkeley take control, whether i agree with them or not. the fact that they try to squash the voices of their own minorities (read= conservatives) at berkeley reeks of hypocrisy. and yes, the actions of uc berkeley normally go against the feelings of the rest of the country, but at its heart they might be considered the most patriotic of all. by exercising their right to dissent, they can and should go against the majority without fear of reprisal. that is what the bill of rights is all about, folks. judging from the posts in this thread alone, not to mention every other anti-berkeley thread that comes through here, if the majority had its way bezerkeley would have bezen blezown of the map a long time ago.

So the direct quotes from the organizers are meaningless? Give me a break.

"Only in America do we tolerate this radical indoctrination of self-loathing in government-run schools. Only in America do we suffer the fools bred in Berkeley who "liberated" a crane to protest animal testing for life-saving research; who established "sister-city" status with the dictatorships of El Salvador and Nicaragua; who banned military recruiters on its high school grounds; and who humiliated a Japanese group of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in the name of diversity."

"In the foreign regimes that the Berzerkleyites so revere as superior to our own country, they would be rotting in jail for their political heresies. Tortured with cattle prods. Or buried up to their necks in sand and stoned to death."

"Here, we shake our heads and let them rant. God Bless America."

A line or two from a couple of paragraphs may represent what was actually said, but I doubt it. Also how they are inserted in the article can change the meaning. Why can conservatives argue a liberal bias in the news media, but when someone points it out the outher way, they call foul. Lynn

I had to chime in on this one. Berkley has been a major refuge of anti-American policy since the early 1960's. If there is anything that can be taught to tear apart the social, religious or political structure of the United States of America, it is taught there. My dream would be to ship all the ultra-radical liberals, socialists and communists from Berkley to a region of the world of their choice. Let them live their lives they way they want to according to their ideology. Their perfect "state" wouldn't last ten years. They would be bankrupt, both morally and economically. The only way they would be able to survive would to become more conservative and adopt the ideology of capitalism which they so strongly protest while they are being funded by it.

I could go on, but I won't. The America-haters who want us to cook over coal stoves, carry our water from wells 2 miles from home and have absolutelyl no national pride wouldn't understand.

I was raised singing "God Bless America", saying the Pledge of Allegiance with God in it, and standing with my hand over my heart when the "Star Spangled Banner" was played.

While others were too scared to sacrifice their own skins I made the choice to support my country in an unpopular war. I believed in what I was doing.

While others were feathering their nests and climbing the corporate ladder I decided, once again on my own, to serve my country in the Peace Corps.

While others were hoarding their emotions and time, I gave refuge to 41 neglected and abused foster children over a period of 5 years.

While others were too busy being full of themselves I adopted and raised 2 children.

While others were keeping the secret to their success to themselves, I sought out others who were stumbling and helped them get back on the road to self-sufficiency.

Yes, I am one of those hated patriots. I am the guy next door. I cry sometimes when I see the flag of the U.S.A. go by in a parade.

God Bless America!

Not only the America, in most of socialized Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, just off the top of my head. But seems like the people who keep lamenting about "they're lucky you have the freedom of dissent" are the first ones who would snatch it away given the power.

From where in the cosmos do you stand that you can objectively say "we should have nuked Berkeley long ago". How do you know it's not Berkeley that should have nuked the rest of the US long ago?

I will not remember, I've forgiven and forgotten. God bless everyone.

"School-sponsored 9-11 Remembrance Day to exclude patriotic symbols and religious references "

but,
"plans call for four university music and song groups to perform at an evening vigil"

so if red white and blue ribbons are too much of a patriotic reference, wouldn't a vigil be too much of a religious

You are a sad, sad individual. God forbid you ever know what real loss is like.

Sounds like this quote fits you perfectly

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. " - John Stuart Mill
