From where in the cosmos do you stand that you can objectively say "we should have nuked Berkeley long ago". How do you know it's not Berkeley that should have nuked the rest of the US long ago?
Ok so you want to bring the Bible into this......do you really want to do that? I mean there are a lot of commands from God about making war on your enemies in there......might want to rethink your strategy........Tell that to Jesus

I will not remember, I've forgiven and forgotten. God bless everyone.

It is nothing objective at all. Make me president for a day and the first thing I would do is nuke Berkeley. All kidding aside(because I was partially kidding), the only reason you have the freedom of dissent is because we have fought for it time and time again. While you can sit in your liberal enclave in Berkeley and bitch and moan about Tibet and Iraq, I will be out there doing my job and paying my taxes so you CAN bitch. When was the last time Berkeley did something for inner city kids or poor rural farmers? When was the last time they sent countributions to a city destroyed or damaged by a tornado? I seem to recall packing supplies for Honduras when the Hurricane hit that country a few years back. Did Berkeley pack any supplies for my neigbors when a large tornado destroyed their homes, schools and churches? I think not.
Would I snatch your power of dissent if I were President? No.
I'll take one!Originally posted by: 308nato

Whoa whoa whoa, hey. Look here. Are you saying people in berkeley don't have jobs and don't pay taxes? You're saying Berkeley doesn't do anything for inner city kids, when a good portion of Berkeley is inner city AND it's right next to Oakland? There's friggin plenty of help for inner city kids here. Poor rural farmers? Do you not remember Cezar Chavez? Hell there's buildings named after the guy here. Sent contributions to a city destroyed or damaged? Do you have any proof that they didn't? Check your facts first.
Ya got me, I was seeing red as I posted it.[/quote]Actually, the is in there. It is the of that's missing. That should be all of the sudden.Edit: BTW I support the school on this one. They're not saying you can't say the national anthem or sing the star-spangled banner, it's just not part of the school-sanctioned event.
Exactly. The event is about the loss of life. Just because some other stuff isn't included doesn't make it an anti-america rally all the sudden.
But people will always bash trivial things to make themselves feel better.
There, I feel better.
That didnt make me feel any better, though.

What makes you think I don't work or pay taxes? I work full time and travel on the weekends for work. Berkeley perpetually has big food and book drives. We have things like midnight basketball leagues and countless afterschool centers, programs for kids....Berkeley and Oakland have their ghettos too. You're only imagining that Berkeley is all talk and no action to sustain your own negative image. There are too many positive and creative things that you'd only find in the Berkeley community to even begin.

Cesar Chavez and the UFW are not at all what I mean by rural farmers and you know it. He was more concerned with migrant farmers than those that have been farming for generations in the midwest and the south.
As to the inner city kids you danced around and said since Berkeley was close to Oakley and is inner city that they are "helping." I would like some facts sir. When did Berkeley help my neighbors? We sure as hell sent firefighters to California to fight wildfires but I can't recall Berkeley or Cali helping us during the tornado.
I never said that people in Berkeley don't pay taxes. I simply said that I will work and pay my taxes to give Berkeley a voice. However jaded and misguided that voice may be I don't care.

Well christ, was anyone from Garrison, North Dakota sent to help with your tornado problems? I'm not sure what any of this is proving.
And sir, much of Berkeley qualifies as inner city (ghetto), probably a good 1/4th. You are the one making ridiculous claims having never spent any time in the East Bay, so the burden of proof is on you.

Worth spending a good amount of time in a place before you condemn it and say "these people are whats wrong with the world argh!!!"

Like I said to BOTH of you already name one church of high school that doesn't do the same. The whole point is that the population of Berkeley runs their cocksuckers all day long and then never does anything to CHANGE what they bitch about. So my point is INACTION that the school takes. Sorry but your little 1/4 ghetto theory doesn't faze me at all. I am from Western Birmingham. I grew up only a few miles from areas that make Oakland look like a bastion of wealth. Point being that schools and churches do the same that Berkeley does. For all the spotlight and attention you people get for your bitching and moaning about the fvcking purple polka dotted white lily tiger moth, why don't you do something to help our country?

Well, due to the fact that I have no interest at all in what the whining half of the population does, I wouldn't know anything about their actions or lack of it. You see, half of the campus here are engineers and scientists, and the other half are the complaining bitches that you hear so much about. I'm on the engineer side of course, and actually I didn't hear anything about the 9/11 commemoration until I saw the link here.
However, I do remember that right after 9/11, there was a vote in the House where they were trying to decide whether to take action against the people who were responsible, and the vote was xxx to 1, with the 1 being the representative for Alameda/Berkeley district. Now that was pretty stupid.
But I also have to say that since you haven't spent a good deal of time in Berkeley or this area, you shouldn't be making any conclusions about our action or lack thereof. Just like since I haven't spent any time in your area (Alabama/Georgia), I shouldn't be coming to the conclusion that the only thing there are rednecks southerners and other morons. Because it's not true.
