Dissapointment for phasechange guys.

The 3700 san diego was gonna be my choice over the 3800 venice.

San diego rapes the venice by 5-7%

many still make the mistake of paying more for a slower 3800+ venice over a 3700+ diego especially when its $45 cheaper.

Yes, but how do we know the 3800+ Venice won't have a higher (average) o/c potential than 3700+ SD with air cooling?

IMO, it's just too early to make generalizations that these two cores will top out at the same speed, especially when comparing the two with something like Prometeia cooling, which 95% of us don't plan on using.

yes, and venice has 200mhz more... similar to the clawhammer vs others.. 200mhz lower clock speed but 512mb more L2 cache

The review overclocks the 3700+ SD (1MB 2.2 GHz) and 3800+ Venice (512k 2.4 GHz) so the *same frequency*, so of course the 1MB L2 will win all benchmarks, duh.

As the article also states, 200 MHz is worth more in almost all benchmarks than 512k extra L2 cache, so running 3800+ vs 3700+ at stock speeds will have Venice come out on top in most benchmarks. Don't get fooled.

Maybe this is the reason why mine shuts down and starts up again like nothing happens? But I've noticed sometime that even though it's been running for a couple of hours, it will shutdown and start up again and will run continously. Any comments or suggestions?
