A sad day for America. I never thought I could dislike a President any more than I did clinton but at least he didnt do any harm or anything for that matter. Gore goes to the top of my list.

Lets hope the other courts show more sense and overturn this.

Bush is only ahead by 154 votes before recounts with this decision.

The Fat Lady has not quite started singing yet.

Looks like Gore will win. I still don't understand why need to count the ballots of only those people who decided not to vote for any presidential canidate. These ballots have already been counted and they count as a no vote for every canidate. I'm sure Bush will appeal this and who knows that FL legislature will do. I doubt this will be over any time soon.

Judgejudy, incorrect, two totally different cases.

The case the USSC sent back to the FSC was Gore vs Harris #1 extending the deadline(the case will be overturned by the USSC next week, bet on it), this is Gore vs Harris #2, contest of the election. They wrote law from the bench in both instances, they can be struck down. Lets also not forget the 11th circut court of appeals also has the option of taking their case back up now that Bush has been "harmed". The USSC and the US Congress are Bush's "last stand" if Gore wins the frace of what he calls a recount, the USSC and Congress can still override it, not to mention the FL Legislature can too.

I don't think the undervotes should be the only ones recounted. I think any votes cast that were somehow not counted need to somehow be counted,ridiculous as that may sound,its the only fair proposition. Recall all the people who cast undervotes,double votes and basically any vote cast that for some reason was not counted. I know this sounds ludicrous,but there seems to be no other totally fair option. And yes,I know this will never happen,i'm just saying that it is possible if they really wanted an accurate and fair count on both sides.

Wombat Woman has it right. ~50% of americans BOTHERED to vote so B & G are going to be elected by ~25% of the qualified voters. Sad, The non-voters deserve what they get but how about those of us who care and get involved. The non-voters are usually the ones who are the loudest and most opinionated, at least the ones I know are. Whats not fair is counting the skewed recount in Dade to be added to the totals. Expect that to be one of the points the 11th and USSC hear. Even if they can recount all the votes in time, there will be two to three major court cases pending, and the FL legislature will send a slate of electors. Two slates, if the house and Senate can't decide which one, the house gets to pick president anyways, or they use the slate originally signed by Jeb(the current one).

I don't think its really a concern since the legislature is meeting on Tuesday to decide who they are giving the 25 electoral votes too. I may be wrong...who knows.

It was funny watching Canada elect a new parliament in about 6 hours while the two idiot candidates were busy playing with the courts in florida. We got 5 parties too, so there's plenty of choice for everyone.

The Florida Supreme court has overlooked Florida State law twice now. Firstly they had no basis to extend (HehHeh, he said extend) the deadline, so the US Supreme court vacated that opinion. Secondly, a parialy re-counted votes cannot be awarded to anyone.
Look at the Florida state law and you will find this to be true.

I believe that it is possible for two sets of electors to be selected, then it could be up to the US congress to decide which set is legit. What a zoo that would be.
BTW, I bothered to vote but we use punchcards in my town, and I was not aware that I needed to run my hand over the back and then check that all the punches were accomplished, I don't know if I voted or not. Thanks Alot.

Whatever happens, whoever wins, I hope to GOD someone sets a national standard for counting votes.
