lop.com infesting my computer ;(

ARGHhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! I did it again...... last time it took a format c:\ to get rid of lop.com after I
stupidly accepted some download off the net, because I needet it to download some mp3.....

I just did the same thing - and sure enough, lop.com places icons on my desktop now at startup,
if I delete them they re-appear. It makes www.sckr.com the default startpage, I try to change it,
but it somehow overrides everything i do...... Sometimes it even has the nerve to start
some stupid gay arggggggghhhhhhh search console which takes a click on the X to close down,
I can't just alt+f4......

Please tell me how to get rid of this without having to format! I could'nt find anything
out of the ordinary under windows=>currentversion=> run......

I am still amazed that it is possible to harass IE users to such a degree, when all we
did was click "yes" on a necessary DL ;(

Maybe a little program called AdAware will help you. Search on google to find it.

This Track Eraser Pro software claims to be able to remove it as well. It's only a 15 day trial however, so go with Ad-aware first.

adaware 5.82 and later removes lop pretty well.

You should never need to download a viewer or player for any file from the net. If you "have" to, it is obviously spyware, and you should look elsewhere for what you need. This stuff flourishes because people don't seem to be aware of this. Also, if your computer is really damaged by this file, you should complain to the hosting ISP, since I doubt they would approve.

bump....cuz i did a search for "lop.com" on this board and found this thread. adaware found lop.com as well as many others like brilliantdigital in my registry.

hope ppl find this useful as well.

AdAware is a great program, but for best results, run AdAware and Spybot - Search and Destroy. SS&D often finds stuff AAW leaves behind.
