LORATADINE (stuff in Claritin). 20 pills as low as $1 total

dunno if anyone has super bad allergies that I do, so i'll share since you guys are so cool
Claritin just got released to public and its very expensive at around $1 a pill, which usually last 24 hours. i'd gladly pay to have relief from sneezing and sniffling constantly.

so i found this:
goto eckerd's. they have a 70% coupon off all Eckerd's brands. The coupon is found within instore fliers. Find Eckerd's brand of LORATADINE (their claritin knockoff). they had the 10 pill pack at 9.99. so i took 2 of them.

Here's the fun part. They still have the "find an expired product and we'll give you $5" poster on all counters. goto back, fumble through some jerky or small stuff and almost guaranteed one will be expired. take it to counter and demand ur $5 card. I just got $5 cash.

after you get the $5 card from a manager, buy the stuff
10 x 2 packs = $20 + tax
subtract 70% coupon = $6
subtract the $5 card = $1

what do you guys think?

YMMV; AFAIK they aren't supposed to be doing the GC for expired drugs anymore.
EDIT: I take that back. A lot of stores just don't post the signs anymore.

I think it is easier for me to send away for a 3 month supply of Allegra for 15 dollars. Nothing like the feeling of health/rx insurance!

This is a real YMMV, but my local Target had their 24-count boxes of Alavert (basically claritin in a form that dissolves in your mouth) on clearance for about $12. I picked one up to tide me over when things start getting nasty, but I'm guessing even more generic versions should be available online for even less.

Your insurance covers OTC drugs? Must be good insurance.

Go with Allegra-D or Zyrtec-D.

the 12 hour ones are the ones not marked 24

Well, duh. It's apples & oranges when you are talking about benadryl (and chlorpheniramine, clemastine, etc.) vs. claritin. All of these other drugs can be extremely sedating.

Go with Allegra-D or Zyrtec-D.

But these are Rx-only. And lots of people get backaches with allegra, and zyrtec does not claim to be non-sedating. Zyrtec is very good, though.

Personally, I use zyrtec D, though I do find it to cause slight drowsiness.

According to epocrates.com (I'm not 100% sure if the zytec info is accurate)
Zyrtec is a sedating antihistamine
Clartin and Allegra are non-sedating
The D just means there is psuedophedrine in it the stuff.

For seasonal allergies, I suggest flonase or nasonex steroidal nose spray. Take it in the morning, works all day.
Why take a pill and have a drug go through your circulation when you can take a locally acting steroid that stops the inflammation of your nasal mucous lining?

I'll go try the Target clearance but has anyone seen the generic stuff at Walmart? What is their name for it? I know, I know, I'll get off my keister and go ask tomorrow but advice is welcomed.

eckerds works fine for me. i only have seen the 24 hr stuffs here.
also here in austin all i see are those $5 signs everywhere. didn't know that some areas took them down.

also sorry i don't have insurance. so for $1, that's worth it to me.
if you have the insurance, go for allegra according to above posts.

It's also not as sedating because it contains pseudoephedrine (Sudafed). That's what the D is for in Zyrtec D, Claritin D, Allegra D...

Sorry for off topic....but....

LOL Because drugs are bad. It's not too much work really. I prepare 3 L of saline solution which lasts me a week. Also, using an antihistamine doesn't stop the source of the problem...which is allergens building up in your sinus cavities. Using the neti technique 2-3 times per day removes dust, pollen, bacteria, viruses and any other nasties you've been breathing. I haven't been sick for a year now and I was able to totally stop taking allergy drugs. My quality of life has never been better....just trying to help some people out. I thought it was stupid and disgusting until I tried it too.....but IT WORKS and it's WAY cheaper than drugs.

the site you provided doesnt have purchasing information. could you provide another site where i can purchase this thing? i get really bad allergies during spring and this may help a lot. i prefer not to take medications. thanks in advance
