Because copying DVDs for free is illegal. Even if you own the movie, you can't "backup" dvds because DVD-R media is only 4.3GB and most movies come on dual layer 8.7GB discs. DVDs are also encrypted, but the pseudo-illegal DeCSS unlocking programs take care of that problem.

You can also rip DVDs and re-encode them in MPEG-2 for SVCDs. Depending on the bitrate and the encoding type, you can fit about 50-60 minutes of video on a single 80 minute CD. Do a google search for DVD2SVCD to see what I mean. The quality really is awesome -- you can't tell any difference in quality unless you really pay attention.

I really wish it were. All DVD-R media right now is single layer. If you wanted to, you could still rip the DVD .vob files and re-encode them at a lower bitrate. You'd be able to fit them on a single DVD-R disc and have almost zero loss in noticeable quality. I've never done this myself, but I've heard that some people have had a pretty good success rate.

As for me, I backup a lot of DVDs using the SVCD method. I used to do it manually, but DVD2SVCD has made my life a lot easier. You can leave it running unattended and it'll rip the DVD, re-encode it, and package it into convenient bin/cue files that you can burn using CDRWIN. I have a P4 1.6a OC'd to 2.4 and I can do a 120 minute movie in about 5 1/2 hours. I just leave it unattended overnight and DVD2SVCD takes care of anything. Looks great, and most movies fit on 2 or 3 80 minute CDRs.

Last time I ordered a DVD from BB they emailed me the $10 coupon, I think that it took a couple of days before I got the coupon.

I am still waiting for my DVD, I thought that I would have gotten it on Tuesday like most of the other places do when you preorder.

I posted a couple replies on another thread in here about this deal.

I emailed (through the "contact us" page on the website) last Friday. I stated that I had not recieved the DVD or the coupon.
A couple of days later, I got a response from them stating that I should keep checking my mail and be patient. I finally got the DVD, and I emailed them again and asked them to please check on the coupon and send it to me ASAP since it's only good for a limited period.
They responded fairly quickly and told me they had a lot of coupons to send and that I should wait. They told me if I don't get it by the 16th, then contact them and they'll "look into resending it".

Now, they took the time twice to respond to me about this by email. Don't you think it would have been easier for them to just send me the damned coupon?
