actually, JJ wants to avoid the X-Files effect-- having the series go on way too long-- so he made sure the deal was that Lost would go on for a set # of seasons, then end with a movie. With most tv deals the creator can say he wants to end it but the studio can continue without him. Not with this one. Not sure the exact # of seasons, but I think it's 4, followed by the movie.

So Rodriguez is one of "The Others", which leads you to believe that "The Others" are the ones from the tail piece (did the big black guy that beat them down and locked them up have an Aussie accent?). But how can she be part of "the Others" that the French lady talks about? Her "The Others" were there 16+years ago... And why are these people w/ Rodriquez so "savage". And the people with Jack etc so humane?

And did you notice in the Orientation video how the benefactor of the experiment they set up was this mysterious type guy way up high in the office building? Obviously this is some "evil" and dirty" experiment of somet nature.

I also think that the pirate/slave ship plays into it... so we have 1 island, we know a priate ship landed 100s of years ago on it, and a French science teams accidentally got ship wrecked on it? and a jet liner crash near it? And a boating/yacht accident? AND the drug runner plane? And this is the electormagnetic station? Hmmm something drawing unknowing participants towards the island? So that there is an endless cycle of lab rats?

Edit: oh, and we know for certain there are more stations to this experiment. I think he said "Swan is station 3, the electromagnetic station on this island" (paraphrased) So does that mean more islands? Or more stations on that 1 island.

And Jack is a pussy for pushing the button.

are you sure Michelle Rodriguez and the otheres were from the tail?

she knew the flight number, but didn't really acknowledge that they were part of the island. the men assumed she was from the tail and it looked like she just played along.

She talked to Jack in the airport lounge and hit on him? Unless she was "tracking" them in the airport? She said she was on the same flight but in back where the wheels go up.

Do we know EXACTLY (yeah right) what happened to Desmonds "partner" and why Desmond ended up alone?

One of my guesses is that their flight was shotdown on purpose to get more lab rats for this experiement that is going on on this island. it's a far stretch, but then again, its LOST so who knows

I thought the last episode was a great episode. I really am just starting to get annoyed by jack though. He just gets on my nerves all the time now.

But wasn't it great when he broke down and confessed that he married the cripple?

Well A) she's not cripple. B) we saw them get married in a flashback. C) "Confessed".... I was unaware he was hiding it.

My mistake; she is paralyzed from the waist down. And he was obviously trying to hide the end result of his failed surgery from the Mad-Hatter

What? She's not paralyzed. The surgery was a success, she stood at their wedding, rehersal dinner. They cried after the surgery together becuase he thought it was a failure, but by some miracle she could feel/walk.

When he FIRST met the "The Mad-Hatter" (I like that), was when she was in the recovery room. He told Desmond there that he failed and Desmond was the one that was like "You never know, miracles can happen..." and Jack was all negative about it. Jck returns to hospital to find out a miracle DID in fact happen, just as Desmond suggested and that she was fine. They end up falling in love somehow, although he shows confusement/struggle while she is toasting him at their rehersal dinner, and he had trouble writting the vows for their wedding too.

wow dude was yesterday like the only episode you ever saw?

1. They revealed last season his fate with her.
2. She is not paralyzed from the waste down, they showed her move her toes in the first episode this season.
3. I do not understand either how it was a confession. I think he broke down because he missed her and knows he may never see her again.

he was hiding it because jack told desmond that there was no way it was a success, and desmond told him something, and by some miracle the surgery was a success, he ddin't want to believe that anything short of science had anything to do with her being able to walk again.

CRA{! Yea, I recall the toe-wiggling and him jabbing the pen in her foot.

But if that were true, why did Desmond have to pry so much to get the information about the end result? If the surgery was truly a success in the end, why didn't Jack just tell him that the surgery was successful despite his earlier confessio?. IIRC, Jack tells Desmond of his failure, then later on realizes it was a success.

But the surgery was a success! Why wouldn't he take joy in telling Desmond that the surgery was a success contrary to his past belief?

Or is he stubborn for the fact that it was a miracle?

Did anyone else notice that the people dragging Sawyer, Mike, and Jin were all dressed like normal people?

I'm thinking that The native guys enslaved the survivors from the tail section using the whole we'll kill you if you don't do what we say and you won't get food or water bit.. It's been what 40 some odd days now so by now it'd be almost second nature for any of the other survivors to just obey them so they can survive.

*edit*

and jack obviously is ahving trying to reconcile the fact that all these coninsidences are happening. First Sawyer and his Dad and now this guy popping up.

As for locke...he's obviously lost all of faith now because the hatch wasn't exactly what he though it was and feels helpless now they everything if getting more modern.

yeah I noticed that right outta the gate. Actually in the previews for 3 you could see normal dress shirts and stuff.

I'm guessing that with every new batch of lab-rats there are 2 halves, 1 half remain "sane and civilized" (ie: Jack, Kate, etc) while the other half become "The Others" and become crazy and warish... as the people from the tail section apparently have (?). Same with the French science team. Some seemed to get "infected" and become inhumane and animalistic, while others remained "normal"

So with the flight of 815 the cycle continues?

Because they ARE with Jack. Jack is selfless and good-hearted and immediately became a leader figure and set the tone. Without a stable figure like that, it could easily have devolved to Lord Of The Flies time.

My only comment will be about the orientation film. I was pretty disappointed. That could have been done SO much better and been truly eerie.

OH! Great point on Jack. I like that.

And yeah, my wife and I were both literally laughing at how horrible the orientation video was. It was worse than most "old videos" seen in video games and such. It could have been so earily done, yet it came off as cheesy as hell. The production quality on it was laughable.
