My wife and I just finished watching it. Wow - what a show!

We were both shocked by the fact that Henry -- not Tom "Friendly" -- appears to be the leader of the Others. He's one sneaky, manipulative SOB.

Michael on Conan now...I'll post in a bit if he says anything good.

EDIT:
Ok, he said he thought he wasn't going to be on the show anymore but now he's heard something about turning the boat back and he doesn't know what's going on next season.

just an observation:

if you are at a sufficiently high latitude on the planet's surface, ie - near one of the poles, and you travel due west you can traverse the entire circle of that latitude and end up at your starting location assuming there were no other land masses on that latitude which isn't that crazy considering that 75% of the earth's surface is covered by water.

so is the island near one of the poles? maybe somewhere close to a frozen land mass where 2 blokes sit in an observation station waiting for EM anomalies? maybe somewhere like antarctica?

They were travelling from Sydney to LA, which takes them past the equator.

Although I do remember the Pilot saying they were two hours off course ...

BTW... I haven't read the whole thread, so I'm not sure if it's been mentioned already.

How many people dragged Desmond off the beach and into the hatch? More than one, since he was carried off on a stretcher (right?). And I don't think Kelvin could carry that himself.

I think it was just one... it just looked like a few because he was seeing things funny Also it wasn't so much of a stretcher... it could have been carried at one end and dragged at the other.

.. screencaps anyone?

I awtched it again, there was one guy, the flashback made it look like 5 or more.

Even if he didn't, he could manage to go in a straight line away from the island.

But he couldn't. He always ended up back at the island. This makes me think of something explained by a warp in space-time, or something like that. Perhaps the whole experiment was really about how to stealth an island, such as a military installation. The ultimate stealth, completely in another dimension of its own, untouchable. Nothing gets in or out unless you want it to.

Seriously. You don't need a freaking compass to go west. His inability to leave the island and Henry's statement to michael about "it wouldn't matter" if he told anyone about the island because they couldn't find it point to the island being cloaked somehow.

I really hope they keep this level of storytelling till the end and then end it right. I would hate for it to be cancelled before the grand finale, or it to start sucking.

I think Henry has to start worrying about what happened at the end of the show. Where the station is no more.

About Season 3 :

05/26 - I just received some exclusive intel on the new characters joining Lost. In addition to the two female roles, the show is also adding a new hunk. Descriptions are: Female, 30s, with leadership qualities. Female, early 20s, very attractive. Male, Latino, early 20s, handsome, mysterious quality. My guess? These are some of the "background" survivors that Carlton Cuse told me would emerge next season. Source: The Ausiello Report

05/26 - Next season will be about the Others, as led by the oblique Henry Gale (played by Michael Emerson, who will join the regular cast). Mr. Cuse listed what viewers will learn about the Others by this time next year: "Who are these people? How many of them are there? What is their history? What are they trying to accomplish?" Source: New York Times

05/25 - Producers of ABC's hit series Lost [...] told SCI FI Wire that it sets up the upcoming third season, which will focus more on romance?and on the mysterious Others. "The Others are an important part of season three, and there's a lot of mysteries and a lot of questions about the Others that the audience is going to be curious about going into season three," said executive producer Carlton Cuse in an interview. "And those are the things we're going to explore." Cuse added: "There will definitely be some new characters on the show next year. ... Obviously, Michael Emerson, who plays Henry Gale, he's someone who's going to be very prominent in the show next year." Fans were also introduced to a new character who promises to figure in next season's storylines: Penelope Widmore, played by Sonya Walger. [...] "I'm excited about love in season three," said executive producer Bryan Burk, adding: "Don't forget now the people have been on the island for 60-plus days. They're now obviously more familiar with each other. ... The concept of love is there, and... it weaves its way through all of our characters. It's going to be much more prevalent in season three." When they explain everything, the show is over. If the ratings are still high when the original cast gets sick of making new episodes, expect a new plane to crash with all new survivors. Then they will have a fresh batch of back stories to tell. In other words, don't expect to know what's going on until the show is about to go off the air. Six years from now, the final scene of the final episode will show Hurley waking up from his coma in the hospital.

I will be so pleased when they finally give us a Scooby Do episode. I'm willing to wait another year, two tops, for it...

What do you mean Scooby Doo episode? You mean guest starring Cass Elliot or the Harlem Globetrotters?

I mean an episode where we have an ending where they catch the 'bad guy' and he explains EVERYTHING that has happened...

They came dangerously close this season with the dragged out first half of hte season....If they don't have jack/kate/sawyer on for a major portion of next season I think it'll tank....cause they were absent from several episodes earlier this season, and so far I think that was the Nadir of this show's existance

I don't think anyone mentioned this, but the last scene w/ the two guys monitoring the electromagnetic anomaly finally kills all those purgatory/they're dead theories.

Didn't J.J. and company dismiss the purgatory theory a while ago?

Yes, they did that a while back.
