I know every time I hear that idea I cringe. Given the type of show that Lost is, it is highly doubtful they would rip-off the Matrix as the basis for the entire damn show.

Wow, just gone done. Pretty good final. Only thing that pissed me off was the way Charlie died. Not that he died really, I figured someone would, but that they took the stupid way out with the trite "bad guy wasn't dead" bit. I frigging hate that. Why in movies and tv shows when they "kill" the bad guy don't they take the frigging gun and pop a few more shots in his head just to make sure? I sure as hell would.

If the flash backs were really flash forwards, why is Kate riding around in a Volvo enjoying life? She was a fugitive wanted for murder amongst other crimes. There's no way that she could come back to society and not be immediately taken into custody for a long prison term, survivor of a crash or not. Yet another fallacy added to the list of many.

Unless she changed her identity, already served some time, this isn't really a flash-forward, this isn't the same reality, etc.

Charlie had to die if that girl and the baby are to be rescued per Desmond. Desmond was right before when CHarlie almost died. So, Charlie had no option but to trust Desmond..

Actually, he just said he dies and Claire gets rescued. That does not mean Claire would never get rescued if Charlie lived. WTF didn't he just swim out once the pressure was equalized? ARGH.

what's interesting is a review of the finale that I just read, that stated a very good point:

what about other proposed flash backs? Are they maybe flash forwards? the island is a very mysterious place, maybe some kind of time bending place, in which things have happened before but the island isn't in their past or future, or even present..
i just tripped myself out trying to figure that one out. all I know is, read this article...

#1) So is Jack falsifying his father's prescription to get his drug fix?

#2) Has Jack really lost his damn mind and still thinks his father is alive?

#3) Jack's father is still alive. I mean.. damn.. A pharmacist won't fill a prescription prescribed from a dead doctor, right?

Well, Oceanic gave both Jack and Kate Golden Tickets to fly whenever and wherever they wanted to. So not only does Kate get recognized by the airliner company, but Oceanic was obviously notified that they had been "rescued" somehow.

Do you guys think they had such a blah ending so that people wouldn't pull their hair out waiting all the way until next year for the next season to start? Usually they do pretty good cliffhangers, but now that they're off the island, I'm not even that interested to learn more. I'm sure I'll still watch it, it just doesn't feel as excited to me anymore...

Well, there are only indications that Kate, Jack and whoever was in the coffin are back off the island.

Jack has been flying the same flights, over and over apparently in hopes to crash and somehow get back to the island. He seems to regret getting "rescued".

Didn't the spoiler posted earlier say that Jack and Kate got rescued, but Kate said that they had to go back for the others and Jack said no, this was their only chance to get rescued?

And the show continues to spiral downward into an unexplainable mess. How many more seasons are left?

So far everything that happened that used to be a big deal turned about to be a big tease and shortly forgotten.

They made a big deal over the hatch...then they blew it up.
They made a big deal over the dharma initiative...then it turned out to have really nothing to do with what was going on.
Last season there was the whole online thing, and NONE of it was relevant at all.
Then theres the numbers....wtf happened to that?
Theres a monster going around killing people, and thats never been really explained.
Michael just drove away, and we never heard about them again. Now teenage walt appears out of nowhere.
Just about any of the others that were killed managed to survive somehow. So theres no reason to think anyone that dies is actually going to stay that way.
And for some strange reason, women can't get pregnant, or they'll die, yet rousseau is still alive.
Now we're supposed to just believe they get off the island soon? I seriously, seriously doubt it. Even if we are to believe that, how is kate not in jail?

Theyve managed to set it up so that no matter what happens, they can always just undo it or trivialize it, and we're all supposed to ooh, ahh and omg over it.

You cant have a coherent mystery unless theres actually a point of ending in sight, and if that ending is supposedly 3 seasons away...wtf? It's never been a sci-fi show, and it seems at this point they only way to explain it all is by going to crazyworld.

Can you take a few pics of the paper from the airplane. The paper was next to Jack. I think that had a better view than the ones of Jack holding the paper.
