Yeah...I'm sure that'll get semi-explained later. That, or Jack was really just fvcked up and saying stupid sh*t and that's another reason why everybody thought he was looney

He was on OCs. Which is basically heroin. It makes you relaxed, it doesn't make you hallucinate or become delusional.

That too. All three you will be f*cked up. I am surprised he didn't think he was on the island.

And the show continues to spiral downward into an unexplainable mess. How many more seasons are left?

So far everything that happened that used to be a big deal turned about to be a big tease and shortly forgotten.

They made a big deal over the hatch...then they blew it up.
They made a big deal over the dharma initiative...then it turned out to have really nothing to do with what was going on.
Last season there was the whole online thing, and NONE of it was relevant at all.
Then theres the numbers....wtf happened to that?
Theres a monster going around killing people, and thats never been really explained.
Michael just drove away, and we never heard about them again. Now teenage walt appears out of nowhere.
Just about any of the others that were killed managed to survive somehow. So theres no reason to think anyone that dies is actually going to stay that way.
And for some strange reason, women can't get pregnant, or they'll die, yet rousseau is still alive.
Now we're supposed to just believe they get off the island soon? I seriously, seriously doubt it. Even if we are to believe that, how is kate not in jail?

Theyve managed to set it up so that no matter what happens, they can always just undo it or trivialize it, and we're all supposed to ooh, ahh and omg over it.

You cant have a coherent mystery unless theres actually a point of ending in sight, and if that ending is supposedly 3 seasons away...wtf? It's never been a sci-fi show, and it seems at this point they only way to explain it all is by going to crazyworld.

Then don't watch the show. Also, Rosseau was able to conceive b/c she was pregnant before landing on the island, like Claire. Obviously, you need an easier show to watch that requires no thinking.

Yeah, you're right, it's cause I'm stupid. It takes a lot of thinking to "dive deep into the mystery" when a season later it'll either be forgotten, destroyed or trivialized.

It's one thing to watch a show that is slowly spiralizing into pointlessness. But if you think it somehow makes you more intelligent, or requires thought, then you're the one who's mistaken.

I've been there, done that, and just came away with the notion that it's utterly pointless to try to analyze the bones theyre throwing at us, because its just one red herring after another.

At first we all thought tom was the leader, then came ben, now jacob. It should be obvious by now to "people that think" that anything that seems to have a point now is just going to be written over in the next season.

Whether or not it's good writing is another discussion altogether, but give me a break if you think it has ANYTHING to do with thinking.

Again, don't watch the show.

"At first we all thought tom was the leader, then came ben, now jacob." - It's a story that hasn't finished. You're upset that you don't know all the answers or that someone might not be who they really are like Tom not being the actual leader or ben or possibly jacob. As the story unfolds, we find these things out.

Some of us like to think and analyze what has unfolded so far and possibly what may happen next. You want it simple and all explained in a single episode. Obviously, Lost isn't your cup of tea.

I am sorry to have offended you, O Protector of Lost, but I'm going to call it as I see it. If all you can really say is "Don't watch it", then take your own advice, and don't read or respond to my post.

It was fun to analyze last season, when there was a good amount of mystery, and a lot going on. I used to be that guy too. They took the faith I had that it was actually going somewhere on loan, skipped a few payments thinking I wouldnt notice, and now theyre defaulting IMO.

And I know I'm not the only person who feels this way. I've still got my fingers crossed for next season actually going somewhere, but I can't say I'm really frothing at the mouth over it like I used to be.

At least you have ATOT to come to. Maybe you and the other crybabies can start your own weekly threads.

I agree and disagree with you. The point of the show is that it's a mystery. They're lost and you're supposed to be lost. There's a lot of things going on on the island, which is part of what makes it fun...so many mysteries to figure out. I have to admit that I was disappointed in the finale's ending and it makes me not want to watch it anymore. If they had cut it off before Jack and Kate met at the end, that would have been fine with me. There was plenty of action and fulfillment in the rest of the episode (Hurley & the other survivors taking out the bad guys, Ben getting beat up, Alex meeting her mom, Jack telling Kate he loved her, etc.).

But you're right, there are some major points that they are trivializing. What's up with Patchy? He gets fried on the invisible fence, he gets a harpoon shot through his heart, and then he lets off a gernade...and he's probably still alive! The loss of logic behind Charlie's death astounds me. And what about Locke? He's dead, he's not dead, he sees Walt, he gets shot but he can still hike up a mountain to confront Jack, he doesn't shoot Jack...oye. So the island super-heals Locke and Patchy is an island robot? The healing part makes some bit of sense, plus he got shot in his removed kidney, but I get the feeling that we'll be seeing Patchy again.

btw, I'm betting Naomi is from the Dharma initiative, which is who Ben was calling the "bad guys".

He made a reference to his dad at the pharmacy as well and had a phony presription from his office. I forgot what he said exactly though when they offered to call his dad's office.

I think Jack said his dad was on vacation.
To an island in the Pacific maybe?

Anyways, since the show will not re-start until February of 2008 I predict the next season will be a disaster from a ratings viewpoint. Nine months of hiatus will kill it.

He said that his dad wouldn't be in. Could be because he's dead, or because he knows his dad wouldn't approve...

It could have been from an old prescription pad. Thats why he didn't let him call the number on it. It wouldn't have done any good.

There was plenty of action and fulfillment in the rest of the episode (Hurley & the other survivors taking out the bad guys, Ben getting beat up, Alex meeting her mom, Jack telling Kate he loved her, etc.).

Here's the inherent problem though...they drop all these hints, and we all go nuts trying to figure it out. When has anything ever been successfully figured out or even come close?

A lot of time was spent analyzing the numbers, and the entire concept was dropped for the third season.
A lot of time was spent analyzing the dharma initiative, and now that cats pretty much out of the bag.

The point is...they set it up to make you want to analyze it (omg that shark has a dharma symbol on it), the others (omg the others are part of some secret dharma project) then later on either drop it for later (numbers, monster) or supercede it (dharma has nothing to do with the others, apparently).

Now theyve basically shown time and time again - don't bother analyzing it, you cant figure anything out, because we'll always write over or away from it. It's bankrupted its equity as a legitimate mystery into just a continual tease to get you to continue watching.

And I suppose it works, cause I'll still watch it, but it just doesnt have that same magic behind it anymore.

But you're right, there are some major points that they are trivializing. What's up with Patchy? He gets fried on the invisible fence, he gets a harpoon shot through his heart, and then he lets off a gernade...and he's probably still alive!

Next season I'm sure we'll be privy to the very touching and pitiful life story of patchy, probably an ex KGB agent, who will suddenly turn out to be a good guy in the end.

He doesnt trust ben, because ben was lying. But then we'll find out he was lying about lying. But guess what, he was sorta kinda not lying by lying when he was lying. But its all a LIE!!

Perhaps...she could also be from the "Karma initiative", who is rival to the "Dharma Intiative." They both want the island for their own reasons.

But later on we'll find out that they both used to be part of the Dharmakarma initiative, a secret alien society of smoke monsters that is trying to invade our planet, and set up this island outside of space and time to gain a foothold, and take the form of humans, slowly recruiting real humans into the fold. No real human being wears that much eye makeup.

The "others" really ARE the good guys in the end...as descendents of the ancient pantheon of greek gods, they are the only ones who can stop the aliens. We havent seen their godlike powers just yet though...you'll have to wait for season 5 for that.

And in the end, it was all just a dream of a goldfish named Jesus hooked up to the matrix in purgatory.

Perhaps a bit far fetched, but its got just as much a chance of being right as any other "analysis."

So apparently Patchy was wearing a vest when he got shot and you can see it in the background after he dives away to escape

Ben isn't the father. He stole Alex from Russeau and claimed to be her father.

No, they went to the other other island, where a mere glance in someones direction gets someone pregnant. Ben isn't exactly a looker, but I'm sure even he has standards, and given the choice between a coconut and rousseau, he'd obviously take the coconut.

Why do you take such offense to perfectly honest and thought out criticism of the show? I still watch the show but am also getting frustrated by it. There is no 'DEEP' meaning behind anything. It was fun to watch for the first couple of seasons because they did a great job at dropping in items we could analyze. Now it's just going all over the place and making the majority of what happened before no longer relevant at all.

Keep in mind that criticizing the show is also analyzing the show. Just because you don't agree with it does not mean you should tell people to stfu and stop watching. That's called being an uber fanboi and leads to alcoholism and pill popping.

I'm also thinking that Penny's dad is tied into the Dharma group. If he sent Naomi, that would explain why she had Desmond's picture.

Because it's the same stupid comments every week. After 23 lost threads I've had it with the same old "WAAAH NOT ENOUGH QUESTIONS ANSWERED" and "WAAAH TOO MANY COMMERCIALS" whining. Every. Fcking. Week.

If these people have nothing to do but complain about the show, why bother watching it? It's mind boggling.

Ah, that explains why Juliette and the others were building the runway for the aliens.

Right...but what you don't know yet is that Juliette IS one of the aliens. She's the one running the show behind it all. She only lets ben think he's in control, but ben actually knows she's an alien, which is why he's trying so hard to get the survivors to stay.

Because the only way to stop the aliens in the end is if only the purest of hearts, namely Jack, were to fornicate with her. Then she'd be foiled by her own plan, she'd get pregnant, she'd die, and with her being the queen of aliens, all other aliens would just drop dead and die.

Which is why Jack is so messed up in the end. He got raped by an alien. Thats gotta suck.

If you have nothing to do but complain about complainers, why bother then? It's even more mind boggling. Go to the official lost messageboard and join in the circle jerk there, I'm sure you'll find all the fawning you can ask for.

Agreed. It's a gimmick show, once the gimmick is revealed the show comes to a screeching halt, so you need to milk it as long as you can.

Things that don't make sense:

1. Polar Bears on the island
2. The black smoke
3. Dinosaur close to the Beach or was that the Black Smoke (anybody remember season one?)
4. The Hatch
5. The Others don't seem to age.
6. Jacob (Is he a ghost or what)
7. How did Locke's father get to the island ?
8. The numbers (no mention of them recently)
9. The Giant foot
10. The old ship which still has working dynamite on it.

The list could go on and on and that's the annoying part of the show is that they have created so many mysteries they will never be able to answer them all during the last season.

When you watch are you listening? Do you have any deductive reasoning skills?

Edit: Also there was a "Answers" special last week that confirmed the answers to many of these.

For the Polar Bears.. there is speculation that the island is an island off the coast of Antartica.

But.. I guess global warming had to melt all the ice and unfortunately a single polar bear remained

Who wants to bet you that Dharma is on the boat trying to find they island again and destroy it?

I mean Ben did say that the people on the boat wanted to kill everything on the island.

The dharma initiave brought polar bears to the island and kept them in the cages where they had James and Kate. Eventually they got too smart and escaped.
