I can stand the lack of answers, because I still believe the producers when they say the answers are coming. But the complete lack of logic about such SIMPLE stuff, it's just inexcusable. Seriously, please, someone refute any of those complaints I just made. I'm this close to simply not tuning in next season, and I want to make sure I didn't simply miss something that makes all those complaints moot.

Charlie believed that to save Claire, he had to die. The show spent several episodes on this matter and I don't know why you have issues with it. There .. refuted.

He also might have thought the Desmond was coming in hearing penny's voice and right then the hatch blows and he locks the door while desmond screams penny's name.

this episode got a big WTF!?! from me, but I'm looking forward to next season. now that they've decided that Lost is going to be on for 3 more seasons and then call it quits, I'm hoping they spend the summer writing out a plan for how things are going to unfold over the next 3 seasons.

When the episode first started, I thought it was in some parallel universe where Oceanic 815 did crash everyone died. This Jack has a beard and the man sitting in the row behind him sorta looks like Jin.

I just noticed that the flash-forwards end with the little airplane woosh noise where in normal episodes the flash-backs start with it. Nice touch.

I watched it last night just before bed. After I turned out the lights and my mind started racing this what I thought of too... "I thought Jack's Dad was dead?!"

OH I also noticed a continuity error... I don't get how things like this slip past people.
When the Losties start to leave the beach they walk away with the water to the right of them. Then the commercial break. When they return from commercial they are walking along the water to their left. Impossible.

I am 100% sure the writers can explain Jack mentioning his dad - Jack must have been talking metamorphically (he is on Oxy remember), blah blabh, etc.

I don't know why everyone (even in other Lost forums) are so hung up on this!!! Since the ending was open-ended, the writers can write so many different scenarios.

B) If Charlie had not locked the Hatch to the room, the whole Looking Glass station would have lost pressure and water would have flooded in from the entry bay.

C) He's died before and come back to life.

You'd think a harpoon through the chest, having your brains melted by a sonicator, being shot, beaten, and god knows whatever took place to destroy his eye, he'd be dead 10 times by now.

It's obvious that he's the last boss. The only way he's dying and not coming back is in a pit of lava.

Considering his brains were coming out of his ears after he got pushed through the security gate I wouldn't be surprised to see his mug again.

I predict season 4 will be the Losties & Others versus whoever was on the phone at the end (possibly Dharma &/or Penny's father). John Locke assumes leadership of the Others. Jack and John continue to have a core opposing duality. Both science (Jack) and faith (John) are needed to protect the island.

Season 5 will have the story arc of the redemption of Jack. Jack is the key figure to the entire story, the flawed but redeemable hero. What we saw in the season-ender as a flash-forward is not "post-Lost" after the series ends. It will end up being in the middle somewhere of the remaining two seasons.

No way does the series end with Jack desolate and in the gutter.

Jack & Kate will escape, and then have to return to the island.



As a minor point, Jacob will end up being the captain of the Black Rock. Because pirate ghosts are cool.

Some things:

Jack's "you have no idea what I've been through" was similar to desmond's outburst from ~ 10 episodes ago...perhaps something similar to what happened to desmond happened to Jack (and kate?)

If there's some funny time jumping going on (ala desmond) maybe the flash forwards aren't quite so forward. But I don't know, I'm still just

Overall a good episode up until the very last part.

I can't understand why everyone on here is making a big deal about Charlie. He had resigned himself to die and to follow Demond's vision. When he saw what was happening, he saw how this whole thing fit into the prediction and followed through like that. It's just not that big of a deal. He felt it was his destiny to do what he did, and he thought it finally redeemed everything bad he had done up to that point. I won't say he wanted to die, but he felt like he could finally do something worthwhile.

Charlie had to die. He knew he was going to die eventually from Desmond's visions, so it had to happen.

I agree about Charlie. Considering all of Desmond's predictions to that point had come to fruition, he knew his time was up. Sure, he could have postponed the inevitable, but this time his death was necessary to save Claire and the baby (at least he believed that) so why not go out a hero. However, I do think it will be revealed next season that Desmond's true vision wasn't what he told Charlie. Similar to when he lied about the arrow going through Charlies throat in a previous episode. I think they hint at this the way Desmond reacts, trying to save Charlie at the last second, again. Not to mention, he also changed his mind on the raft and wanted to swim down in Charlie's place, before Charlie slammed him over the head with the paddle

Dammit, it was great, but they killed off my favorite charecter in season 1 (boone), and now they kill of Charlie, my other favorite charecter.
