Lost CD Autoplay in Win2k -- How do I get it back?

Both IDE Cd drives (Teac and Plextor)lost their ability to autoplay CD's and I can't seem to restore it. Happened just after I installed the upgrade to NTI CD-Maker Pro.

The MS Knowledge Base tells you how to disable autoplay in Windows 2000 but after looking at Audio CD in file types, everything looks enabled to me, yet no CD's will autoplay in either drive.

Anyone know of a fix that might help me here?

uninstall NTI CD maker. these program lock out autoplay so you wont get coasters. so do it at your own risk.

Tried that -- X-Setup shows that Autoplay is active even though it is not. Thanks anyway.

Try this reg hack:

&quot;NoDriveTypeAutoRun&quot;=hex:95,00,00,00

Some programs change the value. I know this work with W9X and NT4.0

Checked the registry and that line with those values were already in place. The mystery continues....I'm considering uninstalling NTI CD Maker Pro and reinstalling without the update but somehow I don't think that will clean up the 'mess' it left me with in the first place.

I have the same problem with my laptop on Win 2000. For a while Autoplay was iffy (sometimes it worked, sometimes not), and then it left for good. Not too much of an actual problem but very annoying. Unfortunately I think that the only thing to do is live with it.

The registry entry is: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom\Autorun. If it is set to 0, then it is disabled. Set this entry's value to 1 to turn it back on.
