Not as far as I know. As long as they have the item in stock, they'll take it. I've never tried it myself, but I've had numerous acquaintances tell me that when they lose a receipt for a fairly common item, they just take it right back to Walmart.

Check the website? Don't know if they have an "in-store pickup" option that may let you know. Call them? 'course.. don't call them then show up 20 mins later with the return.

It's just another option that he could have inquired into if he wanted to return without a receipt. At least my suggestion wasn't one that encouraged committing fraud by returning it to a different store (Walmart).

Not really. Most retail stores won't release security footage except to law enforcement and not without a Subpoena.

Many don't even have the footage onsite for review.

I guess I just assumed that it'd be covered under warranty and I'd been able to send it to the manufacture.

most manufacturers want RECEIPT and Proof of Purchase for Warranty repairs.
