Certainly they're not mutually exclusive. Both Tumi and LV are in the "fucking expensive"'category.

I dunno, the cheapest LV I saw was at minimum 3x what that wallet cost me. And that one seemed to be on the higher end. The initial one my wife got me was $125.

I do agree though, anything over like $50 for a wallet is expensive lol. But it just depends how much you want them to hold up.

One of these is 15 years old. The other one is a few months old.

I should have bought the brown. The black just looks like every other wallet. Then again, I didn't want it to be something people noticed either.

This is my wallet.

It's funny, with all the LV bags I see women carrying I just assume they're all fake. I know my wallet is not fake because I bought it for myself at a LV store. I know my wife's wallet isn't fake because I bought it for her at a LV store. Their purses are even more expensive and probably one of the most faked items in women's fashion.

You cannot buy LV items new anywhere but at a Louis Vuitton store. They don't sell them anywhere else.

They sell them in Neiman Marcus, however it's kind of like a LV store "inside" of Neiman Marcus.

My wife has like 3 LV bags and they all still look pretty damn new. The oldest is like close to 10 years old with the newest being like 5. They are expensive but they are very durable and she uses at least 1 of them pretty much every day.

Yeah, I think they sell them at certain Saks Fifth Ave stores too but it is a store within a store.

My wife has a bunch of LV bags but some of them her Mom gave her and she knows they are fakes. Her Mom had a bunch of them including some luggage we wound up with when she passed away (her brother didn't want them and neither did his wife) so now she has a bunch of them but I know some of them are fakes including some of the luggage (which we are in the process of getting rid of). She has a duffel that is real and we travel with that sometimes, it is worn but sturdy and in good shape. The fake luggage is absolute crap though.

Zip-loc bag for cash and an RFID sleeve for cards.

I got tired of the lump in my ass that I was always taking out and losing.

I don't think I've ever lost a wallet in my life. I've washed one but never lost one.

People tend to lose and not take care of things that are cheap and crap. I can vouch for that myself with all of the crappy sunglasses I used to buy. But now that my wife works in optical and gets them for me at a huge discount, I take care of them a lot more and they last a lot longer (and are clearly better quality too).

I haven't lost one since the end of high school but from K-12, I probably lost at least 4 wallets with one actually coming back to me.

It stopped when I got a purse and started carrying it in that. Never forgot my purse...

My wife got me a pretty nice wallet for Valentine's Day.

https://www.tumi.com/p/tumi-id-lock™-global-double-billfold-0119839CID

I'm curious to see how much longer it lasts than a regular old $20 or whatever wallet. My previous wallet was completely beat up and basically embarrassing to look at lol. But I didn't really care my wife did more than I did. While this is no LV wallet, and the LV wallet I bought her like 8 years ago still pretty much looks brand new (as does her LV bags), I am curious to see if it holds up over time and being in my back pocket all the time. I kind of looked a bit at LV wallets once she got me this one but they are like 3-4x as much as that one, and damn, I don't think I could justify that. I do like some of the LV wallets a lot though but not $500+ a lot.

I clicked on that damn link and now in my FB feed overpriced Tumi wallets are showing up. Oye.

I always thought Tumi luggage was good, though I go with Eagle Creek, but I'd never spend $150 on a somewhat ok looking wallet.

Then again I'll spend money on other things like headphones, bags and chef's knives. To each his own.

Update, my Koyono Slimmy wallet finally gave up the ghost (got too lose & threads started fraying after many, many years in service). Decided to try something new. Settled on this $12 slim beast: (the Slimmy was almost $50!!)

https://www.amazon.com/Hammer-Anvil-Minimalist-Leather-Crosshatch/dp/B01BXLRHGY

Love it! Driver's license & health insurance card on one side, reloadable allowance card & emergency CC cards on the other (plus a Tile Slim for Bluetooth tracking in case I lose it). I only ever keep like $20 cash, just for emergencies...the middle is definitely tight & needs to be broken in so it's more easily accessible for pulling cash in & out of. But the price vs. features is just awesome! Also has RFID blocking features, if you care about that.

My EDC carry is minimal tho. Slim iPhone (no case) & minimalist wallet in one pocket. Keys in the other (also with Tile tags for easy locating).

LOL I know what you mean about the ads all over the place after going there. That shit is like black magic.

I had never even heard of Tumi until my wife got me a wallet. She initially got me this other black one but gave me a gift receipt and I decided to get this other one because I like the leather style on it as well as the color. The one she initially got was like $125 I believe this one was $30 more. The one she got me had the clear ID holder in it but I don't care about that because if anyone ever asks me for ID they ask me to take it out anyways. Plus those get crap behind them and look nasty after a while. And getting the cards out of the pockets in that one were tougher than the other one.

What I really wanted was a single billfold instead of having 2. I rarely carry cash and just don't have the need for 2.

I actually got this initially.

https://www.tumi.com/p/tumi-id-lock™-slim-card-case-0119860CID

But after using it for a day it just didn't feel right. I thought I could get used to not having a place for cash as I rarely carry it, but I did have a few bucks and it just didn't feel right folded up in there, and it was hard to get out too. And carrying shit around in my front pocket just felt weird too lol. At least I can say I tried it and know I like wallets better.

What kind of plastic bubble do you live and work in where a wallet lasts 25 years?
36 years you mean? Buy a wallet made of the proper material for the purpose and it will last a very long time. Leather isn't the proper material for the purpose.

Isn't there too much fumbling with the ziploc when you have to pay? Also two small things in your pocket are easier to lose.

I don't keep my wallet in my ass so I don't have issues.

Have a thin metal money clip w/ card holder. Keep it in my front pocket. Sitting on a wallet is completely miserable.

I have a Thom Mcan trifold full grain brown leather wallet that I got as a gift a while back. It's the only wallet I've ever used and still looks great.

I keep the Zip-loc in a smaller pocket in my bag and reach in when I need money. There is some fumbling, having nicely "filed" bills in a wallet is easier, but the bills float to the top. Change is the same -- I hated carrying change in my wallet.
