Thanks for the link, I am downloading it now.

By the way, for those of you who do not know, this game engine made by Capcom is brilliant. They made it near perfectly multi-threaded... It is one of the few games where you can actually see near 100% scaling when not CPU limited as you add cores. They did a brillliant job on the multi-core support... Be nice if they taught some of their tricks to the rest of the trade.

In Theory. If you have a lower clocked Athlon Quad Core along with a GTX 480, yes... Which, quite honestly, is not something a lot of people take into consideration when saying someone is CPU limited because that depends on the game. If a game only takes two cores into consideration, then in some cases they will be CPU limited with a GTX 480. However, if that same game was coded for 4 cores, properly, then you would no longer be CPU limited. So, in some ways a rig that is CPU limited today, might not be CPU limited tomorrow depending on the use of multi core coding.

These are my results, the benchmark doesn't offer a DX10, its only DX9 or DX11, period.

I ran with everything maxed on game plus 8x FSAA at my native low resolution of 1280x1024, Crossfire worked out of the box with no issues, flickering or strange behavior. At DX9 mode, A.I. on Advanced and everything else on default. The first 3 tests are about GPU performance, the last test is about CPU performance.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _Single GPU Crossfire (AFR)
1st Scene Ave_ _ _50.5_ _ _ _ _ _92.9

Scene 2_ _ _ _ _ _53.6_ _ _ _ _ _ 94.0

This is Test B.

i7 is at 4.2 not what the benchmark displays. I like the visuals in this game

I thought it was console only though ? Didn't know they announced it for PC.

edited here is Test A on the same settings

can't run the benchmark under dx9 or 11. Will not launch the program. I am using cats 10.5 with crossfire 5870's windows 7. I tried disabling crossfire same problem... oh well

how do you get AA to stick in DX9? it just resets itself to none no matter what.

Thats some good info.
scales well with all 6 cores with the Amd 1055t.
The gtx460 beatng up a 5850 in the direct x 11 benchmarks.

Thanks to nVidia's stronger Tessellation performance. But seems that Tessellation is far from usable with ATi's and nVidia's current generation, nVidia's stronger Tessellation performance doesn't help much at all since it can't make a difference in playability, the GTX 480 is the fastest and yet, its barely playable at such low min fps at the low resolution of 1680x1050. It seems that we will have to wait next generation of GPU's to have Tessellation in a usable state.

Multithreading is what makes the Phenom II shine.

Change the setting to what you want then leave it highlighted and go down and hit "select" then it retains your settings (it gives you a few seconds to decide)...

Well, thank goodness we have Crossfire and SLI then. It's all good. These numbers are even better than Crysis is/was, and that was more than playable even with the teen digit dips here and there.

I have tried that and it doesn't work. it goes right back to none after I select yes when it asks if I want to apply those settings.

1920 x 1200, no AA, everything maxed. DX11, Test A 38.0, Test B 36.9.
DX11, no AA, everything maxed except DX11 at middle. Test A 33.7, Test B 40.4. Weird that one test drops and the other raises.
DX9 Test A 79.3. no AA

Can you do a 19x12 as well at those settings?

I'm using the 22" Samsung 120Hz monitor so I can try 3D. I have a 24" I could try with native 19x12, but it's 60hz only.

Aha

No hurry at all, whenever suits you. I hit shaping half-way through the download so I won't be trying it until tomorrow at this stage

Could you rerun without AA? I'd imagine that running without 4xAA would give some noticeably higher -and playable- frame rates. Considering what other cards in the $200-300 range are getting, and compared directly to a hd5870, this is pretty damn good.
