Could you rerun without AA? I'd imagine that running without 4xAA would give some noticeably higher -and playable- frame rates. Considering what other cards in the $200-300 range are getting, and compared directly to a hd5870, this is pretty damn good.

1920x1200
AA off
everything maxed except motion blur off
avg=40fps for test A
avg=32.5fps for test B
with my 460 at 900core/1900mem and CPU at 3.8GHz

What truly stinks is this is a nVidia sponsored game. I simply do not trust that company, and wonder what underhanded thing they did/will do this time (Hopefully they left the game alone)...

I keep getting a stopped working error message everytime I try to run it in DX9. Its doesn't show a DX10 option? I do not have a DX11 card unforunately...

Reran the benches with Thylanliyans settings and got A-38.7, B-38.3. Ran again to check and got 40.3 and 38.3. This time the last scene was different. I stayed in the first room with the double barreled machine gun the scene. It's really hard to compare if it doesn't stay consistent. My first run with everything on high averaged about 31 in the first two scenes but the last scene was in the low 50s so I came out 38 average. It generally averages out close but I would like to have a NVidia card here to compare the benches. I'm paranoid that way.

Update your latest DirectX 9 runtime and your drivers, also check which is the cause for the error, an example of this; L2PV9 has encountered a problem, blah blahblah, faulting module blah.dll etc. Check which is the faulting module, my gf used to have problems with a faulting module known as atimudp.dll (Something like that) and with a driver update got fixed.

DX 11

CPU @ 2.8GHz, 5870 @ 850/1200 (stock)
Test A- 34 fps
Test B- 35.6 fps

CPU @ 2.8GHz, 5870 @ 900/1250 (no voltage OC)
Test A- 34.8 fps
Test B- 32.7 fps
CPU @ 3.15GHz, 5870 @ 850/1200 (stock)
Test A- 36.3 fps

Test B- 31.5 fps
Hmm, fairly strange results, OC'ed video card doesn't really yield that much better results, OC'ed processor doesn't either... (given they are mild OC's). What gives?

For those having problems try installing the latest version updated June 2010. Link is below:

http://download.microsoft.com/downl...-82AF-AD2AE20B6B14/directx_Jun2010_redist.exe

I got a very playable 34.7fps on a Visiontech factory oced 3870 512MB video at 1360 resolution and 2x aa. Not to shabby for such a old card. It did very little dipping below 30fsb. There was no stutter or anyrthing noticable either.

Jason

It's a very good card. My GF has a Sapphire HD 3870 stock and she was able to max Lost Planet 2 at 1680x1050 without Anti Aliasing and the game never dipped below 27fps and had an average of 36fps, turning anti aliasing to 2x dropped the fps to 26fps average and yet, didn't felt slow or unplayable. (The same thing happened to Crysis). She has an Athlon II X4 635 at 3.01GHz.

Same settings exactly:

avg=41fps for test A
avg=37.1fps for test B

with my 5850@975/1225 and a considerably slower machine behind it (Q6600@2.7/4GB ddr2-800/P5Q-PRO).

Looks like I'm getting a leg up over stock 5870s as well at those speeds (as I should, on paper at least).
