I'm not sure if the rules are literal or not. I guess if the MiB is trying to sink the island maybe they aren't actual rules, I don't know. maybe its some sort of a loophole, we don't know.

I don't think jacob killed the mib. he knocked him out and sent him into the tunnel and he turned into the smoke monster.

the button was to make sure nothing went wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNFDHgjrlK8
the orientation video is much more clear now. the hatch was originally used for scientists to study the electromagnetism, until the incident took place. we know what that incident was. hence the false hand/arm in the video. they would be very careful not to let that happen again. thats why they kept people down there at all costs.

the airdrop, not too important, but you could assume that the dharma had some automated system for the drops, and/or the others made sure they kept on coming. ben would have known how they worked and it was much easier than leaving the island to go get food.

Watching it again will also result in a lot of "oh now I get it" moments.

Not really. They've abandoned SO much from the earlier seasons it's driving me crazy. A big part of what made the early seasons amazing was thinking in the back of my mind that it will all make sense eventually... Now I have a hard time believing the finale will be anything more than the disappointment that has been this season.

lol I think you are stretching a bit saying 2 seasons were devoted to it. There was a portion devoted to getting walt back, and what michael did to do that, but walt's specialness wasn't at the face of it all.

Seems like people have just completely forgotten the emphasis that was placed on Walt before. One or two threads back, I explained in detail exactly how Walt was a huge focus in the first several seasons. He was immensely important, and now he inexplicably is not.

can you post that? I really don't remember him being that important. he did cause a few big things to happen but somewhat indirectly.

Damon and Carlton were on Jimmy Kimmel last night. They brought up that subject. They pretty much said he was 11 or 12, playing an 8 year old, and while they were filming he kept growing and his voice kept changing. They said Walts story is not over yet. It was very vague but interesting. They said it wasn't going to be answered on the show......

So anyone have any ideas how? They also said (on a podcast) they were going to answer the Dharma food drops, but not on the show. I know there is a lost encyclopedia coming out, but that seems too texty for that. Maybe they are going to do a graphic novel or a comic book to answer some stuff from seasons past?

the thing with walt is that he was important to the 'others', who have basically been written out of the show. they're antagonists for, what, four seasons, and we never really get a decent grasp on why.

essentially the shitty writers have boiled like eighty episodes down into getting jack to fix ben so that ben can accomplish a purpose that i guess he forgot about.

we thought the others were the ones in control. the plot moved on and that changed. if the show was still our losties running through the jungle hiding in trees and trying to get away from the others, people would complain the show is boring now. they change things, and people say why did they change things, everything was perfect before.

you need to look deeper into the show...jack didn't just decide one day to fix ben

Lost comic book would be awesome.

I think it's pretty cool how some tv shows and movies have used the medium to continue expanding their stories in a less expensive way. the 28 Days Later comic book, for example, is really top notch (the Buffy the Vampire Slayer is too, but I can't properly judge it since I'm completely a BtVS fanboy and would probably love it no matter what)

a couple seasons back, I accepted that Lost was a character drama that happened to involve some mysteries and sci-fi elements.

once I stopped being so obsessed with zomgANSWERTHEQUESTIONCLAIRE I started enjoying the show a lot more.

but I will be forever resentful if they don't take 5 seconds to address Walt's specialness after devoting 2 seasons to it.

This is basically what LOST is all about [now] - according to most non-spoiler reports - the ending is "beautifully awesome" for each character - finding their own resolution/redemption depending upon which time line they die in and that's the time line they will live the rest of their lives in

The only character that throws a monkey wrench into the scheme of things is Widmore. I think he's the only major character who hasn't had a flash side ways...

I can't wait until its all over.

I can't believe people are still watching this crap.

Speaks volumes about the intelligence of our society that people actually care about this show.

It speaks volumes about the intelligence of you since you cannot comprehend on how other people get enjoyment from things you seem to think are unpleasant. So, how about you go fuck yourself with your massive levels of incoherent logic.

So I got a question.

Do you think there will be anything of value in the Lost: Pregame Show?

I mean, I wouldn't mind a like 30 min recap of the show up to this point. Or something along those lines. But I do not DO NOT want 2 hours of psuedo-celebs giving predictions and bio's of actors/writers and other nonsense.

I am pretty upset in general that I realized only a few days ago they are going to finale it on a sunday. I'm moving the next day and that was going to be my final packing day. Oh well. Maybe I'll finally find out what is up with that hatch.

probably not.

I have no intention of watching it at least... my game plan is to get out of work by 6:30 pm, go grocery shopping, pick up dinner (I've decided that the season finale of Lost is worth having my first slice of pizza in 2 years), take care of general crap around the house (making lunch, cleaning, etc) and then sit down to watch the actual finale (and probably the cast on Kimmel as well)

interesting damon lindelof quote from a year or two ago

There are some questions that are very engaging and interesting, and then there are other questions that we have no interest whatsoever in answering. We call it the midi-chlorian debate, because at a certain point, explaining something mystical demystifies it. To try and have a character come and say, "Here is what the numbers mean," actually makes every usage of the numbers up to that point less interesting.
You can actually watch Star Wars now, and when Obi-Wan talks about the Force to Luke for the first time, it loses its luster because the Force has been explained as, sort of, little biological agents that are in your blood stream. So you go, "Oh, I liked Obi-Wan's version a lot better." Which in the case of our show is, "The numbers are bad luck, they keep popping up in Hurley's life, they appear on the island." ... But if you're watching the show for a detailed explanation of what the numbers mean—and I'm not saying you won't see more of them—then you will be disappointed by the end of season six.

yeah, why did the others take the children?
what was so special about the 'good' people on the list?

I'm thinking Jacob wanted the candidates to remain unattached to the world.

I agree.
He even said the candidates were those miserable souls who had nothing to go back to. When Kate asked why she was crossed out, Jacob straight up said because she became a mother and in my mind then something worth leaving the island. I am guessing he sent the others to collect the children and those who never were considered. Not saying he didn't have a plan for all of this "other's" but I think the candidates were only people brought in on the plane.

I binged and watched the first 6 episodes of the series today and that was one of the things I noted, not sure why some people were taken and others weren't. plus jacob's lists etc(jack wasn't on it apparently)

So is claire going to have the baby in the finale?

Is Jack going to be able to have Locke's surgery?

Right now it appears as though the finale is going to be set on the island and in the concert hall/museum.

Spoiler!!

The "light in the cave" .. holds the mystical 'Voyager Reset Button' ...

The episode will focus on Desmond trying to get into the cave to press the button.

The end of the show will be Desmond pressing the button.... time "rewinding" for everyone... and the Flash Sideways timeline becomes the current timeline.

Damn you Rick Berman and Brannon Braga! You've screwed up another Sci-Fi show!
