Same with Walt, but Aaron brought Claire and Charlie together, brought Kate back to the island, made Claire crazy, and a bunch of other things. So he had his uses.

I think the writers weren't really sure where to go with Claire/Aaron [Walt was obvious - he literally sprouted up overnight - so they couldn't really do much with him] - so they just made her batshyte crazy - to "mirror" the batshyte crazy chick in Season 1 [mirroring season 1 in season 6 seemed to be the common trend of the series anyway]
Now that you mention it, both women who gave birth on the Island were crazy. Coincidence?
