New Line also plans an extended version of "The Return of the King" on home video around the holidays, similar to the longer cuts of the first two films. The three extended versions will push the saga's running time to more than 11 hours.

BOO! I don't want the short version, I want the long version! Oh well, I guess I'll wait until December again...

I'm still gonna hold out for the ee version. Of course by than they'll probably have a trilogy version in the making. I can see it now 15 dvd set, 3 hours of extra footage!!

A trilogy box set is in the planning stages but won't arrive for two or three years. "We are going to take great care so that what is ultimately released is terrific," says Stephen Einhorn, president and chief operating officer of New Line Home Entertainment

Now that I know the specs I finished my ROTK covers for this year. You can see them here.

Our very own Mucman helps me host them since when theonering.net etc. posts them (probably near the actual release date) there's 5000+ hits/day and everyone downloads every cover it seems (2MB each).

The ROTK: EE is 4 hours and 15 minutes long.

Probably another November release, some september rumors have been floating around. No word on what Sideshow/Weta statue will be in the gift set yet.
