If you notice for those of you that bought the LOTR:FOTR extended edition like I did, the sleeve to hold the DVD's looks like a book.

I believe they will do the same to the LOTR:TTT and LOTR:ROTK extended versions and I believe they will sell them as a set of 3 with a sleeve holding all 3 extended versions so it will look like a complete series of books.

I don't think there will be an all more for your buck super extended versions of all the films when LOTR:ROTK is finally released.

I'm not sure but from what I've heard after all 3 movies have been released they plan on releasing a special collectors box version which will contain additional footage not available in any other DVD. Including the Extended Versions. Not sure but, that's what I've heard.

Is Kia sponsoring another free LOTR:TTT DVD if you do a test-drive this year? That's how I have a LOTR:FOTR DVD from last year.

... and then 2 years after LOTR:ROTK releases in theaters, Kia will have a super-duper demolition derby test-drive of all their cars to determine who wins the Supreme Deluxe Extended Edition Director's Cut Unrated-Version 3-movie Box Edition with extra never-before-seen 3-hour live-action "The Hobbit" movie and preview for "The Silmarillion" added on the 56th DVD. ... And JRR Tolkien poofing up in a magic cloud in your living room to explain what he really meant in the books.

...an edition to end all editions ... can't wait!!

Hmm, that is a pretty good deal... I too wonder if we get a free ticket for ROTK.
I wonder if this item is going to be in GoldBoxes after release...

With the extras will this movie end up being on 2 discs? I got a screening DVD and its on one. I'd rather lose some of the extras than have to switch discs.

Last year I bought LOTR:Fellowship, later the came out with a new release that had an additional 30-40 minutes of footage. If you guys check this one, it does not state that the movie has additional material. On the other hand, if u check the Collectors Edition box (59.99 @ amazon) it clearly says that it contains 40 minutes of additional footage.

Just wondering if anyone knows if the one for 25.99 has the extra footage!
thanks

Wasn't Liv Tyler supposed to be naked in one of there extended versions?

If you get the version coming out in August, you'll get the movie on 1 disc and the extras on another.

If you get the EXTENDED version (approx. 3 hours 45 minutes) that is being discussed in this thread (NOT the screener copy you most likely have), you will have to get up to change the disk (or switch to the next disk in the changer). Note that the extended version will be on *4* DVD's - 2 for the movie and 2 for extras.

if they can fit Titanic (197 minutes) on a single side of a DVD, I think they can stick LOTR Extended Version (178 minutes) onto a single side of a DVD too. it would be nice to have that option. doesn't have to be superbit or anything special like that. I just want the extended version without having to flip/switch a disc.

Come on... When the movie's more than 3 hours long you've got to pee sometime.

Check out this article from a while back. DVD Talk

One very encouraging note for Lord of the Rings fans who have bought or are planning to buy the Extended Editions - New Line has stated that they are not going to punish loyal fans who buy their Extended Editions buy putting out some sort of other 'Super-Ultimate' Edition or Collection after the third film is out. So your investment in the Extended Editions is safe.

I think people would rather have a 6.1 DTS soundtrack and the highest video quality possible than squeezing everything onto 1 disc.

Also, Fellowship extended version is longer than Titanic, not shorter, at 208 minutes. The video quality on the Titanic DVD is also not even close to being great.

Titanic isn't an anamorphic transfer- that's why they can fit it on a single DVD- that and no DTS.

So it might be a while before I own it on dvd.

I also recall an article released that said they would not have any extra special features in their boxed set of all three movies and that it would be just the extended editions. They didnt want to discourage consumers to buy the individual movies. Not 100% sure though...

Heh, would it be shady of me to cancel my order, then re-order with the 10% discount?
