Just wanted to see if anybody has a LotRO: Mines of Moria buddy key they'd be willing to spare. I'm playing with a regular 10-day buddy key now, but it won't let me try out either the new Warden or Rune-Keeper. Based on this thread it appears you CAN use both the new Warden & Rune-Keeper if you get an actual buddy key from a MoM account.

TYIA!

Edit: I should have a Vanguard buddy key lying around in case anybody wants one or for trade =)

How is this game doing now? Is the player base more refined than WoW? I am so tired of all the idots in that game that I cancelled my sub. May have to check LOTRO and see how it is.

I just started playing, it's my first MMO (never bothered with WoW). I like it, good graphics, and I like the setting, since I am a big Tolkien book fan.

Don't know much about the rest, since my hobbit is only lvl 8 in the shire right now.

I think the free trial now includes the Moria stuff.

Those of you just starting the game, if you're on Brandywine server look me up and I'll do what I can to help you out.

The characters I'm usually playing are:

Feldenak - hunter (woodworker: spears, clubs, bows and the like)
Avarys - burglar (weaponcrafter: the obvious)
Saelen - loremaster (jeweller: again obvious)
Darith - champion (metalworker: armor(light, medium, & heavy), shields and such)
Bodil - captain (scholar: potions, scrolls, dyes, and such)

Im also looking for a buddy key, Id love to try the game out before actually buying. I just wasted $50 on Far Cry 2 because I didnt do any research first, its so terrible, crashes from memory leaks I dont want to waste another $40 on a game I might not stick with.

Any help would be excellent. Thanks!

So I purchased LOTRO: Shadows of Angmar a little over a year ago (boxed version) but because of some craziness in my families life (wife was ill), I put it on hold. I saw MOM this week in a store and it reminded me that the original was sitting on a shelf.

Can I just install the original game and play that without having to install MOM now? Besides being able to go in the mines, does it offer other updates that I can't get with SOA patches?

Also, I would LOVE to have a FOUNDERS Code as well if anyone still has one available.

Thanks...

You can play with your current version just fine with everyone else. There is a a lot of patches to download so leave it on overnight.

The main 2 things you won't have access to with SoA versus MoM are the 2 new classes, the Rune-Keeper (a healer/nuker), or the Warden (spear + shield, unique Gambit skills system, good for solo).

Quite enjoying this so far. The zones are pretty neat and the graphics are superb. One major standout is that the player base seems to be quite friendly and helpful. Also the drop rate for quests is quite high so it is less of a grind than my experiences in WoW.

I don't know why. I'm perfectly content to have my wife not play LotRO...gives me my "Me time". I can play LotRO while she plays her games on the PS3/360...or her occasional playtime of Zoo Tycoon.

lol probably because thats ALL HE EVER DOES and i complain that its ALL HE EVER DOES and he doesnt spend adequate time with me... so i guess he thinks if i play, then it will suffice for the time hes not really spending with me.... LAME

A LOTRO Retail box is cheaper than a monthly subscription. If I have an inactive account from way back when, could I just put a new key from a new retail box and extend my time on that account?

I believe the retail box only gives you play time on a brand new account. Unless you were upgrading the old account to the new MoM expansion, then you might be able to get 30-days with that, though that may be only on brand new accounts as well.
