Slowest character to level is the Minstrel. Healer class takes longer to kill things but much wanted in groups.

Look me up any time. I play on the Landroval server (unofficial role playing server) Rustican.

I didn't find LM as challenging as a burg. Both are very fun classes though. The only thing challenging about playing a Captain is power consumption.

So true!

I found my Captain to be pretty decent for soloing overall, though there were definitely some very difficult areas to get through. Having the Herald definitely helps out when trying to escape angry mobs.

Power Consumption for the Capatin has been greatly improved IMO since the release of Mines of Moria. There also some really nice Legendary Weapons that further help in regards to power if you have bought the expansion. My Capatin has been very fun to play since moria because they are actually now one of the better DPS classes along with a new trait set system which can make them very potent healers also. Think I have finnally decided on Capatin being my main even though i have been actively playing 4 other classes!

Character class choice is the hardest thing for me.

Burgular looks right up my street. I love debuffing monsters but it looks like a complicated thing to do in a group. It also seems like it could all be a bit of a faff with Tricks, picking the best one for the situation. Not sure I can be fussed with that hassle.

Champion seems like my posion. A powerful meleer which seems easy to pick up, damage dealer with some tanking abilities and seems to have good solo potential as the LoTRO forums state.

Hunter seems perfect for me too. I played THF to 30, NIN to 20 and RNG (Ranger) to 34 on FFXI... I loved my Ranger because it 1v1 outdamaged anyone else at my level (even BLM's). I was wanted by even Japanese parties because I knew how to play my class and despite the hardship to unlock Ranger and Ninja to create the ultimate DPS machine, I loved it. What blows me out about the Hunter class in LoTRO is some of the diversity (traps, didnt like that in AoC much) and being designated puller in a group. Being the puller in a group really depresses me.... the trudging into the wilderness where one slight slip can lead to total party annhilation and it builds hate (probably wrong word for LoTRO but you'll get the concept) from the word go.

Decisions, decisions...

Depending on how my install goes when I get home from work tomorrow, I might suggest setting up a LoTRO AT Guild (Kinship?)

Could be goooood fun!!!

So true Thanks for that prior code as well - let's see if I can stick around this time.

My main is a hunter and I never pull in groups. Eventually the tank-like meatshields get either a simple bow skill or a shout they use to pull.

Hunters should never pull groups. Let the main tank do it. Hunters don't have the armor to survive the hate their dps brings. Once the tank has things in hand, then start upping your dps.

My main is a minstrel and my main outlook on trigger happy hunters is this, I use less power rezzing you than healing you.

Fortunately, Ive found a 14 day free trial on the European servers.

I will take advantage of that then extend it with my copy of LoTRO which should be at home when I get back from work then extend it by another 60 days with my MoM special edition.

Good times!

There's times where its still better for a LM or Hunter to pull groups of mobs, particularly if you're trying for an AoE root pull. Elcs, pulling isn't like FFXI. You rarely camp and pull, in fact, EXPing is different altogether. From 1-50 or 60 now you'll basically complete quests and follow the epic storyline. Its never grinding EXP in dedicated parties like in FFXI unless you really want to.

Anyways how's the PvP with MoM? Some of the changes look pretty good. I quit LOTRO about this time last year although I did find it pretty enjoyable and yes, the graphics especially in DX10 are outstanding. I checked in on the forums a week after release and it sounded like PvP was kinda dead with all the Freeps leveling and raiding new content.

As someone who has a hunter main character, I hate hunters that cannot manage aggro. We have plenty of tools to avoid being a problem for minstrels (stances, lower DPS shots, etc...). Hunters that are overly fond of Rain of Arrows are a big pet peeve of mine too.

I think that would be a lot of fun. Will you be on a European Server or U.S. server?

Unfortunately, I am on a European server.

As I was playing on the US servers with KeithTalent's buddy code, I was noticing a bit of lag... so Im hoping the Euro servers dont have problems with it.

Ive got my LoTRO today and thats busy patching @ 400kBytes/s (yawn) on my 20 megabit line. Currently -719% done according to the patcher, looks about 17,000/27,000 of the way done on the updates.

MoM should hopefully be with me before Christmas and that will give me another 2 months play time taking me up to April

Still stuck on what class to go for.

Champion seems too simple.
Hunter is a "been there, done that" kind of feeling.
Burgular looks too complicated and intricate.
Guardian, tanking is not my style.
Magic classes dont appeal to me either and there is no real "Summoner/Pet" class.

I think have to find an 8-sided dice and roll.

Maybe a Captain would suit you?

Back on FFXI or AoC, as a Ranger/Hunter type character, I used to hate Warriors/Tanks that couldnt hold hate properly.

There were tanks like several in my FFXI LS that I could really unleash boatload of damage alongside and yes, I had to manage it and couldnt attack constantly but it wasnt like slow. Other tanks were terrible and couldnt hold hate at all even if I was being restrained in my approach.

I came back to LOTRO because of the new classes and now I have a lv 50 runekeeper. Yeah, I leveled quick but I was having fun. I'm not looking for a kinship since I'm tired of soloing and I'd like to have a usual group of people to play with. I'm on Elendilmir but I was also thinking about moving to another server.

I met a few really cool people early on and continued playing the game with them, but they don't play anymore so forget it.

I don't know what game you played but there is plenty of solo content all the way to 50 where my characters are at.

how is the rune'y at high levels? I started a LM as I normally play a magic class but didn't find it really that fulfilling as one.

EU server download speed average: 250 kilobytes per second.

LoTRO fiiles to download: 27,000

Ability to walk away from the PC and let it do its thing: Priceless!!!

Update is a nightmare. Using about 1/10th of my connection speed, I had to let it run overnight to update.

EDIT: End of day 1, Level 14 Dwarven Champion.
