Ability to walk away from the PC and let it do its thing: Priceless!!!

Update is a nightmare. Using about 1/10th of my connection speed, I had to let it run overnight to update.

EDIT: End of day 1, Level 14 Dwarven Champion.

When I left my house this morning, about 7 hours ago, it said I was at 128% completion, now it says I am at -153% completion. How do I have a negative completion percentage, is it taking files away?

Don't worry.... I hit -800% completion!

I thought the updates were 2,700 files so got excited when my completion % shot up.... 27,000 files later!!!

The RK is pretty interesting. It takes a while to get them attuned for maximum damage/healing and if you need to switch from one to the other it'll take just a long but it's nice being able to heal or do damage if you want. The downside is that RKs are very fragile. Expect to die a lot if you're gonna play one. It got really frustrating for a few levels because I just died way too much.

Played around with a Warden yesterday. Seems like a very fun class - much more so than the Champ I've been playing since release. I just hate to start all over again, but I really like the gambit system. The "kick" one is so cool.

End of second day, I hit level 16 1/4 on my Champion and also reached Tier 2 on both Prospecting and Weaponsmithing. Also made another 500 silver so Im up to around 650 silver after mere days.

Just been on the internet flying around forums especially LoTRO ones looking for a solution to 5.1 Audio in LoTRO on Vista. Trying that tonight, fingers crossed.

If not, I'll just press on with the smithing and stuffs.

I made a Warden recently and they are great especially for the Solo aspect. They were mr fist class to get to level 20 without dying! The Javelin Ambush skill along with the critical stike are the most fun to use! They are a class that definately need more then just punching buttons. I am suprised that I have been able to pick up most of the gamit combos fairly quickly. kind of makes my guardian character a little boring IMO.

Mines of Moria arrived yesterday and I am paid up until 2nd April 2009!! Woo Hoo!!!

My Champion sort of hit a wall recently. Level 17 and levelling is going very slowly, quests seem to be drying up slowly but surely and deeds are taking a long time to grind.

Crafting-wise, I am doing quite well as you will see below.

Propsector:

Mastered Tier 1
Mastered Tier 2
Proficient Tier 3
Tier 4 unlocked

Weaponsmith:

Mastered Tier 1
Proficient Tier 2

I am stuck here because I am too low a level to complete the Unlock T3 Weaponsmith quest.

Few tips to avoid feeling the level grind. If you have not already, there are plenty of closely grouped quests in the Lone Lands by the Forsaken inn and Weathertop and that will yield a couple levels. Also, you can venture into the North Downs and there is a northern settelment that have quests of your level range. That should get you past level 20 easily and then more quest lines open up.

I also really enjoyed the crafting element and went all out with Alternates so that I could have all areas covered. Suprisingly, I never felt really bored leveling 5 different characters at the same time. It felt good to know that I had my own little economy going between my characters which saved money and made crafting less of a trivial pursuit.

Almost level 30 now and really having fun. Joined up with a Fellowship for 3 of the early Orc quests in North Downs and rocked totally, off tanking with my Champ, protecting the Minstrel (who played Barbie Girl and was called DocJones) and the Fellowship techniques are very cool, reminiscent of FFXI's.

Unlocked T5 Prospecting and unlocked T4 Weaponsmithing with Superior Forges. Finding that crafting is really very very good for making money with. I could make quite a bit of loot if I do it right.

Probably wanting a Scholar-type Crafter for Master Crafting scrolls.

Ok I tried playing this again last weekend and I got frustrated after about 3 hours on my level 46 Captain. All of my old complaints just reared their ugly heads again.

The biggest one was how just prior I had played my level 65 Warlock in WoW for 2 hours and completed about 6 quests for over 60K in experience, so I felt like I had actually accomplished something. After my 3 hours on LOTRO I had completed a total of 1 quest for a whopping 1,500 experience; only 127K to go to 47, woohoo!

I'm glad you guys are having fun with it (the early levels are great, tonnes of fun) and I hope it stays that way because it sure hasn't for me.

What quest were you doing that took 3 hours?

Anyway, I got my runekeeper to 51 a week or 2 ago I'm transferring my LOTRO characters to Landroval (from Elindilmir) so in the meantime I've been sucked back into Warhammer (for PvP mostly) and I'm trying Eve again for the 300th time. I think this is the highest number of MMOs I've subscribed to at once. Ugh.

It wasn't a single quest I was working on, I was running around trying to find things to complete in my quest log. Started off trying to go to Goblin Town, but my way there was blocked by 6 goblins and 2 wargs, so I just kept dying. No idea how I'm supposed to get through there solo. So then I headed to Angmar and was able to finally complete 1 quest, but when I turned it in for that 1,500 experience I was just irritated and logged off.

Maybe I just suck, I don't know, but it's frustrating as hell.

You know there's more than 1 way into GT, right? Also, last time I was there the respawn rate was really high and I died there frequently as a L50 hunter so I would expect a L47 Cappy to have problems.

Also, have you tried Forochel?

Well I couldn't find another way, even looking online. I have a bunch of quests there around my level, so I would expect to be able to actually get there, otherwise why give me the quests? It's not as if the quests are red or purple.

Where is Forochel?

It is just north of Evendim. There are a lot of quests concentrated in one area that should provide some good quick and easy questing for solo. I would think it would yield a few levels for a level 47.

I also found that to be the case with Goblin Town was that is was really easy to get wiped if you were solo. That did no stop me from trying.

Also KT, not sure if you picked up the expansion but if you did, you could get yourself a legendary weapon/item at that level which could beef you up quite a bit along with some nice rewards and that could really help on your solo game. My Captain is 49 and he has become my favirote Solo class now!

IIRC, the 2 entrances in to GT are: Goblin Town Main Gate (The Black Crack I think) and The Mountain's Throat

Forochel is north of Evendim.

Sorry for Thread Necromancy (Why are there no Necromancers in LoTRO?)

I am now level 42, working very hard on Crafting with Grand Mastery in Prospecting and levelling quickly. Took down Ivar with a group earlier in career and Fornost.... well Fornost we ran through with a lvl 53 Hunter, 60 LM, 47 and 39 Champs, 46 and 35 Mins and wiped 3 times on the final boss. Read on the US Forums that he's been bugged since about October so its not surprising that we ended up eating the dirt.

Looking around Forochel now and Ive noticed a few fun monster. Deer-types drop Tier 5 Hides (Weaponsmith Tier 5 use and Quids in!) and Chilling Grims which are rather evil and stuff. Loved Evendim and hated Trollshaws, Misty Mountains could be renamed Miserable Mountains and I'd agree!!!

Got myself a nice Kinship and really enjoying grouping with them when I have the time. Needing a bit more organisation with times/people as when we do an instance or group of quests, it is generally rather ad-hoc and on the spur of the moment.

Loving it... I just wish the Pound was as strong as it has been in recent times and Id probably go for a lifetime subscription.

slight side track:
If I wanted to get back into this, with only the original game in hand, would that be advisable or would I be missing out on content by not buying expansions? I'd want to buy my gf the same, just the original for now, if possible...

I'm not 100% sure as I can't try it and haven't looked into it that much, but it seems by the advertising for it that someone starting new would only need to buy the mines disc to get access to the old stuff (which would be unlike about every other mmo which is why I an a little suspicious of the way the advertising reads).

But if this is true, right now BB has the new one on sale for just $20, and I can still send out guest invites that allow lifetime or $10/month subscriptions.

As far as what you'd miss, mainly it would be the access to max levels, new area, and new classes. Admittedly the expansion can be had rather cheap, but unless you're running around capped now don't think you'd need to buy it right away.

I would say that the Expansion is well worth it since you will have the option of the two new classes. The Warden is especially fun if you plan on doing a lot of solo.

The Legendary Item system also helps to provide a means to expand on the playability factor since their is a lot of variety offered.

If you can find a good deal on a boxed set including the expansion it would be well worth it. Otherwise, if you plan on playing through slowly enjoying all of the content while taking your time, you can do without the expansion for a few months.

I've been reading about this game, I loved the trilogy, so I'm looking at getting to playt. Never played an MMO before, and I don't think I really would like/care about PvP, so this seems like a good MMO to try at first. Lot's of casual/solo content should make it fun.

Lupi, sent you a PM about a founder invite
