Thanks guys, I'll check that out on the Janary 1st.

KT

I started my account back up again. We used to play together in the same Kinship, Legacy... Maybe I'll see you online sometime.

Oh right, cool. I'm still barely on, just because of other commitments, but I'll keep an eye out.

Crafting is a grind no matter what game you play and I didn't find LotRO to be any different to be honest than, say, EQ 1 or 2. You either go out and farm endlessly for materials (huge timesink) or you buy them off of players through auctions.

i got to 40 playing only on weekends in a couple of months, doing every quest i could find a listing for.

i started in the bree zone but made my way over to the shire and finished all the quests there before going back to bree. shire seems like a better lowbie zone than the zone east of bree.

the festivals are really fun, running around the shire getting drunk off your rocker

now that football season is over i'll start back up. i'm leotax on landroval.

Hit level 47 on my Dwarven Champion and I must say the grind is starting to bite. I can still solo quite well at my level and have enjoyed taking out several level 50 monsters in Eastern Angmar. Recently (lvl 45) took out Dread Jaw, a level 45 Elite Master Turtle monster with a lvl 40 Mins in my Kin, took us quite some time to whittle down his 18,000 HP but we did it without any scary moments.

Enjoying the game immensely, feeling the bite of the grind a bit and looking for a Fellowship to do some of the group quests gets me down sometimes, especially when I want to progress the storyline and get 1 step closer to Moria.

How does a free trial work? Do I still have to go out and buy the game first? Seems kind of pointless to me, unless it's downloadable or something? Trying a game out "for free" to see if I like it after I've already purchased it seems counter-productive.

If I don't have to buy the game first, I'd love a trial membership if anyone has one. I just built a new rig and was debating going back to WoW but a lot of things about it irk me so I'd be delighted if I could find another fun MMO that'll keep me around. Raiding was fun in WoW but eventually it got to the point that my guild required me to be on ~20 hours a week. Now that I've taken a break I've had a chance to step back and say "what the hell was I doing?!"

If I can't get a free trial of this I'll probably buy Warhammer.

You have Forochel, Eregion, Misty Mountains and Angmar to get to 50. Angmar probably being the most grindy of those, as it was the previous end game. I'd stick to doing as much of Forochel and MM as possible and only doing Angmar when it's absolutely necessary (epic quests, class quests, etc). Avoid getting stuck on group quests, you can always come back for that crap and nearly everything you get pre-moria is garbage in the long run (outside of Forochel which has some cool unique cloaks).

Eregion can take you all the way to 53-54 without breaking a sweat and then the countless Moria zones will send you right to 60 without to much effort.

The key here is not to get dragged into old Angmar end game content slowing your progression, Angmar has a ton of stuff, but it was all coded to keep people busy until Moria.

Don't know how the current free-trial works, but originally all you had to do was download the client from their website and you can register an account and go. If you wanted to keep playing beyond your free trial you can buy the product in stores or online and enter your new serial # into your account settings + your CC / payment method and then continue from where you left off (as long as you upgrade your trial account as opposed to creating a new one). I'd expect it's still pretty much the same.

Yep, it's pretty much the same as far as I can tell.

Any of you players on month-to-month? PM me if you are, as I have 1 free "30 day game card product key" to give away

Edit: ALL GONE

If you have the MoM expansion, you should head over to Eregion and do the initial quests for the Mines so that you can get your first Legendary Items. This will allow you to begin leveling those weapons with the content you are enjoying now. You can actually access the Legendary quest line at level 45
