LOTRO is getting a performance boost for its servers, and you could get a performance boost for your PC just for playing on Bullroarer during our LOTRO Performance Event! You could win a super-fast solid state hard drive, a blazing CPU + 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a killer DX10.1 video card, or a signed copy of the game!

Where: During the event on May 14th we?ll monitor performance on the Bullroarer server and we need as many players to participate as possible! If you don?t already have it, download the Bullroarer game client now and install it to be ready for the event.

When: Log in and play LOTRO on Bullroarer between 9:00PM and 11:00PM Eastern on Thursday, May 14 for your chance to win great prizes. Lots of Turbine developers and staff will be playing on Bullroarer and chatting with players (look for names that start with a plus sign [+]) ? and we?ll have many other cool in-game surprises too!

All players who log in and play between 9:00PM and 11:00PM Eastern will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win.

Haven't d/l it yet, but from what I remember of beta here and in similar instances from every other mmo I played, yes.

Didn't they used to have a different client (Roheryn maybe??) used to test out new content? You could have both of those going at the same time, so I assume this will be no different.

March 11, 2009 Eyes & Guard Tavern is now open! PLEASE READ



The Eyes & Guard Tavern is now open for business! However, as many of you have found, the level-up process is not working correctly; Keth is only taking characters to level 49 with approximately 15% left to get to 50.

Here is the workaround from our QA team:

Workaround for Keth



1. Use Keth to get to level 49
2. Use Tens and take Book 1 Volumes 1-5. This will get you to 50
a. You will be ported to Combe after Book 1. You will have to Map back.
b. Do not go past Book 5. This will give you too much XP if you wish to use Liu Tsieng.
c. Assure it is Volume 1 you are doing. If you take the Volume II quest it will give you too much XP to use Liu Tsieng.

The only other way is to grind the XP to 50 manually.

You can then proceed to Level 60 if you wish:


1. Go to Liu Tsieng and take the 5 quests that will level you to 60
2. Go back to Tens and take the Volume II Book 1 level Up
a. This will give you Moria access
b. This will place 2 undestroyable Legendary Items in your bags
c. This will port you to the Hollin Gate

Encounter: It Came from the Midgewater Swamp!

Levels 1 - 20

All sorts of wild things are arriving from the swamp and the chetwood forest to disturb the poor defenseless folk of Combe and Staddle. Bree's guards have finally swept the clear the South-Guard Ruins near Andrath, but now they threaten to be overrun again! Hurry, new adventurers and defend these three locations!

Encounter: Fell Things Stir!

Levels 20 - 50

Dark creatures are massing anew on the borders of Esteldin and Ost Guruth whilst fighting in the Ruins of Annuminas has flared up again. Experienced adventurers must make haste to these places to reinforce their already flagging defenders.

Encounter: The Rise of the Orcs!

Levels 50 - 60

The orcs are mustering in their strongholds of power and are preparing to advance upon the dwarves within the 21st Hall, while simultaneously attacking Cerin Amroth and Caras Galadhon. Come heroes and protect these important settlements of the Free People before all is cast into shadow!

Encounter: Lost in the Great Barrow

All levels

In the tombs of the men of Cardolan, now twisted by the dark sorceries of the enemy the members of the dev fellowship falter in fear. A search and rescue of the upper corridors of the Great Barrow must be conducted. Each of the fellows must be near the surface, so these searches should be somewhat easy! Truly nothing could be more important than this, so bring as many large fellowships into the Great Barrow as you can!

Encounter: Crossing the Ettenmoors!

Any level PVMP players

A fellowship of devs was crossing the Ettenmoors and have become separated once more! Sauron's warlords have issued a rallying cry. Go create a monster player to hunt down the fellowship, or fly now to Glan Vraig within the Ettenmoors to locate and protect these heroes!

Encounter: The Vale of Imladris

Levels 30 - 60

The Vale of Imladris is under siege by the forces of Sauron! While the elves there are doughty enough they cannot repel the invaders without help! Any who can manage should make their way through the Trollshaws to Rivendell and lend what aid they can and fight shoulder to shoulder with the elves of Rivendell to protect the last homely house. Here is where the hammer will fall the heaviest!


But that's not all. Throughout the evening members of the LOTRO development team will be on hand talking about LOTRO in the Prancing Pony! Server-wide messages will indicate when these events take place for interested players.

We're really very excited to engage in this testing with you all Thursday night at 9PM EST. Come help us improve the game and have a good time while you're doing it!

I started mine at like 9pm last night. It finished at around 4 or 5 AM I think. Installed and left it patching before I left for work.

...and I got stuck trying to get to Combe (couldn't move). Then I died somehow (from jumping in place).. and it wouldn't load, so I closed and re-opened and it's stuck loading. I'm done with this event, oh well..

just after 9 (while i was just tooling around in rivendell) heard people start telling about how lag really getting ramped up. wasn't paying attention and got afk'ed out. When I tried to log back in the indicator wasn't showing much progress, not sure if I ever fully made it.
