Lousy Sandra memory benchmark scores compared to the others listed.....

150s to 160s for my machine. the 600 Duron was over twice what mine benched !!( Crucial 256mb 133 cl3 running 100fsb/ 2 2 2)

Your thoughts on this would be appreciated !! This doesn't seem right.

Those figures do seem low. I am running a Celeron 300A on an ABIT BE6 II Ver.2 MB at 106 MHz FSB with 256 Meg of PC133 7.5ns RAM set 2-2-2. OS is Windows 98SE. The memory figures I just read are;

ALU/RAM Bandwidth 307MB/s
FPU/RAM Bandwidth 376MB/s.

I just looked at dabomb's specs and we are pretty comparable in most respects. You have a better CPU. I have an IBM 30Gig 7200 RPM HD as the main and a Seagate 7200 RPM as a secondary. One thing that may make a difference is I am running my HD off of a Promise Ultra66 controller and the drive figures in the SiSoft Sandra score. That shouldn't make a 2 to 1 difference though.

Those scores are pretty low. I did some Sandra benches on my system at different cpu speeds and different memory speeds. Here are the results. All are using a P3 700 and 2x256mb of Infineon RAM @ 2-2-2 and are in the form ALU/FPU

Gustavus,our setups are very similar.You have the latest Abit XK bios ? I'm curious as to what the "optimum" memory settings should be. The drive benchmark is 21452 with all options checked.

Sandra cannot be used as a comparision for other machines no matter what they try to tell you..use it as a comparision for your own machine when you update or upgrade to see if your own machine has improved....Sandra has a known problem with the AMD chip in all flavors...it is not a benchmarking tool....

Make sure your in-order que depth is set right as well..can make a LARGE difference
