So I got sick of my Samsung Captivate and accidentally broke it in nerd rage back in Dec. I ended up extended my ATT contract and getting HTC Titan. Windows phone 7 was a breath of fresh air after trying many custom roms on the Samsung Captivate and it still always sucking. (horrid battery life even with extended battery, random slow downs etc)

But now I am so sick of the random things that windows phone cannot do. WiFi disconnects and does not remember my works portal access. (stupid webpage agreement with network PW) App selection is beyond bad. Sometimes I just want to randomly try a new app. Pandora support sucks! Not enough control over system alarms/ring tones.

The tiles I loved at first but now feel so limiting. I believe this is mainly due to the low res of the phone and scrolling down for a month sucks.

Maybe I just to picky. I disliked how locked down iOS was when I had the iphone 3GS. I loved Android being able to just copy files over and go but hated the randomly lockouts/slowdowns. And now hate the locked down part of Wp7.

Not sure if I should try Android again or just give up on current gen OSes and keep my HTC Titan.

Pretty sure that "randomly lockouts/slowdowns" aren't normal, even for an android device. I think you should give Android another go, but this time get some better hardware. Something with a S4 would be ideal IMO. I'm not up to date on all the options so I wont give examples.

By all accounts, the HTC One X is a pretty damn sweet phone, assuming you're still on AT&T?

Played with a One S at the TMO store yesterday, it was quite nice. Sense 4 seems a big improvement over Sense 2.1 through 3.5. God, Sense 2.1 was awful on the Thunderbolt. *Shudder*

You should be in politics. The problem isnt WP7 but the Titan, so lets just all blame WP7 and make that the focus of random pointless hate.

Are you Al Sharpton's protege?

This. I'm a Linux user so I'm sure that makes me biased, but I'm on my second Android phone running CyanogenMod and don't ever see myself going to a device with less control.

I love the HTC Titan but the OS ecosystem is to locked down. I have had zero hardware issues with my HTC Titan. I said my Samsung Captivate was having hardware issue like random slowdowns and horrid battery life.

My HTC Titan has great battery life (for a smart phone).

Kind of the same experience here. I LOVE the Titan an started out loving WP7. I still like it for the most part but the lack of growth is frustrating. I can never go back to Android or iOS due to the crappy office solutions. Outlook and EXCEL are a must.
I assume everyone is waiting for Win8 to develope for real.....

Second generation HTC WP7 devices have been out for 6 months or so, and there is still nothing beyond developer unlock. On the other hand, the 2nd gen Samsungs can be root unlocked fairly easily. Though not everything that can be done with root unlocked WP7 phones are that great, that is an option for Samsung owners.

As far as too much scrolling goes, you could pin your most used apps to the Start screen. For those apps on the long list, you are supposed to tap somewhere on the right side of the squared letters to bring up alphabet tiles. Then, you tap the first letter of the app you are looking for so you can get to the app quicker.

Edit:
After the posting this, I looked at another forum and noticed that the first custom ROM was released for the Titan 1 today. Guess I was wrong in doubting this would ever happen.

Wow, interesting thread. I recently bought a Samsung Focus that runs win7.5. Since Im not in america im paying full price for phone, and since this is an older phone the price wasnt outrageous. Now my friend who i work with has a galaxy s2 which is close to 3X the price and I have used it pretty extensively myself. The main things that i notice is that the s2 is more touch sensitive, so thats a benefit. The s2 (android os) can download music directly to the phone from local music websites. My focus just wont download music unless I go through zune marketplace. The workaround is just downloading to my computer and when I link to the computer i can add the songs to the phone. Obviously the ringtones are a bit annoying as I cant just link a song to a person, but rather need to shorten the song to under 39sec and under a megbyte. In one sense this is a bit time consuming, on the other hand i can customize the song the way I want. Also re opening a text message can be annoying if i want to copy a phone number or a phrase or something i have to copy the entire message.

Now one concern that I had was the marketplace and this is what really surprised me in a good way. I can only speak for me here but so far i dont see anything that ive seen on the android platform that makes me feel ive lost out. Android may sport a billion apps but you go in the marketplace and you have 10k apps for playing music. Well I only need one app to do the job so as long as windows has one app that does the job good im happy.

Now some good things about wp7. The ease of copying and pasting is just fantastic. (that may sound contradictory to what i previously said but it IS reall really good)The screen orientation (where you turn the phone sideways and the screen will adjust to that viewing angle) is just plain quick. A lot faster than the s2. The microsoft voice recognition is more accurate than googles. Also a feature i like alot is when someone calls you their pic is big and bright on the screen. Thats something I just never understood with the s2. My friend has the 4.3" version and the pics are just plain small. i mean you have all that space on the phone and the pic takes up just a minimal spot. And the battery life is quite good. I dont know if this is due to the os or just better in comparison of these two phones. ANd finally the spellcheck works really good. rarely, if ever, does a word get through that wasnt what i wanted.

Anyways take it for what its worth. One thing I would really like to see with winphone is just some cpu power. Im working with a a single 1ghz chip but it does run the phone pretty quick.

You won't see that until WP8. Until then, the best you're going to get is a 1.4Ghz Snapdragon S2. Raw power isn't WP7s forte right now.
