I've got the same one, it's great. Crank the voltage to 1.35V and raise the clocks by 100MHz on core and mem. Raised my 3DMarks05 score by 1000.

I would imagine that anyone buying one of these now would be really pleased with it. I bought one back in Dec. for $650 and I was happy with it, so I'm sure that getting it for half of that just makes it even sweeter.

You too? I just got the Sapphire version, coming from a 6600GT. The difference is night and day.

according to the Ati control center my idle temps are 58'C in my living room which is only 70'F...anyone know how to validate these temps..and if they are accurate..how can I get it lower?

I downloaded ATI Tool and the fan runs constantly at only 27% of full speed? why the hell would ATI drivers run it this slow.. I realize the fan gets loud as hell..but still!!

I too just replaced my 6600GT with the Sapphire X1800XT. It's a great card and runs everything beautifully, but I too was wondering about the high temps. Mine is currently running 64'C at idle with 32% fan speed. They intake at the front of the card pulls air that has already passed over my two hard drives, so the air may be a bit warmer than normal. Is this normal or is my card defective?

Get an AC Acelero X2, set the fan speed to 100%, and ejoy silent cooling with temps in the low-mid 40's at idle.

Umm where did you learn to convert C to F, 58C is about 136F.

Not that it matters but my 7800GT loads 100% around 55C and idles 35-37C with the stock cooler

Silicon doesn't melt until it gets well above triple digits. However, the higher the heat, the more likely that imperfections in the chip cause problems. If the card runs stable, the temps don't matter though.

I was uncomfortable with the temps my 1800XT had with the stock cooler. They were like 55-58 idle, up to 90C load. I put a VF700 on it and it's been no higher than about 72. I don't OC it though, that's all at stock clocks.

I have a sealed VF900 for my 1800XT but I was thinking returning it for the AC X2 cooler. I have great case temps and box is in a cooler office room. I would prefer the silence if I can have it. I love the card as well ,it is the 256DDR version with the 512 core and the 1.1ns DDR I have been wondering about flashing bios to XT PE.

Anyone done or have thoughts, my card is Sapphire and I paid 240 shipped

I have an X1900XT 3 things that you can also that will make a dramtic improvement in cooling and silence is:

1) Get an Accelero X2
2) Get some Ram sinks TTa1978's work great and put them on the capaciters just in from of the long thin Red heatsink (you may have 5 of them)
3) Get an Antec Super Cyclone PCI exhaust fan, and install it just under the Accelero. This will exhaust all of the hot air from the Accelero out of the case

Good luck,,Great card
